Hacking Probably a Very Basic Question About SD Cards!

hi once more gbatemp c: you guys are and have been a really great community.. and i come begging for help once more.

so i was just wondering if i could use a 32 gb micro sd card + adapter in place of the standard 4 gb sd card already included in the 3ds xl upon purchase. it was the one i was using to load games off the red card all this time but now that i figured how to use .cias and stuff i feel like i could just use an adapter + micro sd for much more space? i assume it would, but would it still work?
