The previously rumored Prince of Persia Trilogy 3D for the PlayStation 3 has been confirmed by publisher Ubisoft today, stuffing three PS2 games onto one Blu-ray disc, which will only be available in Europe.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones will get a visual upgrade for the re-release, but judging by the first three screen shots of the compilation, not a terribly impressive visual upgrade. Either the sands of time have not been kind to the Prince, or we've forgotten what these PS2 games originally looked like.

Sure, the original Sands of Time looks alright, and maybe we've been spoiled by Sony's other HD makeovers (God of War, Shadow of the Colossus & Ico), but Warrior Within... what happened?

Ubisoft says the trio of Prince of Persia games will run in 720p resolution, plus feature new textures, normal maps, anti-aliasing and optional stereoscopic 3D.

Prince of Persia Trilogy 3D hits the PS3 in Europe on November 19, priced at £29.99.[/p]

So it's Europe only, that's kinda odd. Even if the visual upgrade is meh I'd still get it for the PS3 provided the price was right... And if I had a PS3 and lived in Europe.

These are great new but now I'm totally mad:
1. Europe Only
2. Don't have PS3
3. They should do the same for the Wii
4. At least imported to other countries
5. They should do it for PC too.

The reason it's coming to the PS3 is because Bluray can hold all three games on one disc as well as extras and bonuses. Plus the last thing I want is a waggle-filled mess of PoP on the Wii. Forgotten Sands wasn't that bad because it was tailored around it but Rival Swords wasn't that good because it seemed terribly tacked on. But a PC version would be nice.

Actually I'm playing the original Sands of Time on the PC already at 1680 x1050 with a little hack to give it a true widescreen aspect ratio, and although there is only so much you can do with the texture at a higher resolution, the rest of the game looks quite alright, and I'm playing it with a dual shock controller too.....
No reason to look forward to this, how much better can it get on the PS3 ?
A br disc with three old games versus a free torrent for the PC.......you do the math
