Does the 3ds/2ds have pressure sensitive buttons? Because I haven't encountered any game that uses pressure sensitivity until I tried playing MGS 3D where back in the PS2, pressure sensitivity is a must.

Anyway, I was trying this one thing where I should press the 'O' button hard to throw an enemy to the ground (In the 3DS' case, it's the ZR button). But in the 3DS 'm kinda getting a hit/miss scenario. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or I'm just not pressing the button hard enough.

Yeah, the PS2 has nice rubber-like carbon contacts which are analog.

The SoC treats the buttons as digital inputs (most likely a pullup-resistor and short-to-ground-on-press system). Sadly it's not possible to change the behavior. Also, the tactile buttons make the buttons lose their analog-ity, meaning that if you were to not put enough pressure on the button then it would unpress due to not enough force. As for the 2DS... it's shitty rubber dome, the analog value would most likely jump up and down by moving the button the slightest bit. So yeah, it's too unreliable anyways.

It can be two things:
  1. the button got worn out and you really need to press it a bit harder
  2. you're probably hitting the button too fast, and thus the software has no chance to register that you have pressed that button
I think you should watch your button presses, and don't try to release it too fast, otherwise the software might miss it.

For Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D on one of the control schemes, i'm pretty sure you use the d-pad for CQC. This is one of the games where having the Monster Hunter Cross/Double Cross hand grip and PSP nub c-stick shines through.

It's a newly bought new2dsxl tho. I think due to MGS3D being a heavy game, most of the time when I'm trying to do the CQC takedowns the game drops in fps which may be the reason why it sometimes work and sometimes not. I think this is something I have to adjust to myself to make due to the input lag.

Yeah, even with the zl and zr on new 2dses, it'a still hard to use. I'll try using input redirection and dualshock4 later.
