Hacking Preloader 0.28, finally out!

Well, it doesn't work on my both wiis (one pal, one ntsc), no auto update stuff... can anyone confirm crazy intro fails in this version?
I've seen someone reported that in another thread... I can't test since autoupdate doesn't work for me....

CrazyIntro works in the same way as in 0.27.

* rewrote the hacks parser, it's more solid now and detects syntax errors much better
* added a new font
* optimised menu layout
* you can now add unlimited offsets/value in one hack entry
* added beta version related code
* added a setting which allows to always turn you wii off even when standby is enabled
* fixed that when shut down from the systemmenu the wii always got powered down instead of using the set shutdownmode.
* fixed a bug which would prevented to update to a non beta update during beta tests
* fixed a bug in the systemmenu hacks scrolling code

Just in case anyone is wondering what the hell the purpose of this one is, I asked crediar to include it after discovering it as a bug in previous versions. The news and weather channels both require that you have standby mode enabled, or they won't let you access them at all. But standby mode is a huge fucking waste of power for some pointless features nobody needs. With this feature, you can enable standby in the Wii settings, and gain access to the news and weather channels, without having the Wii actually ever go into standby.

Woah! thanks. I actually didn't realize that. I saw the option but never thought of it. That was one thing that actually did bug me. I love how everything I want for wii is being created. I couldn't ask for anything else at this point. I also really love this update. It bugged me how everything was crammed in the side of the screen (especially noticeable in widescreen) and now its all nice and centered.

I just learned about crazy intro from this thread and downloaded it. So far I have not got anything to work from installing in preloader. It always gives me a black screen witha code dump. It doesnt sound that great though anyway. I want something that would allow you to customize your system menu music.

does the dol autoboot require a special type of dol? I haven't tried installing an autoboot dol yet, but i've tried just running one (with 1). It resulted in a code dump. I was trying to load wad manager 1.3

how does preloader handle the autoboot dol? Is is copied to nand like hacks.ini, or will it just run from sd?

I'm having networking issues, it would be nice if it was released by Crediar in a DOL installer format. Maybe the auto-update checks some static URL...

EDIT: The concept of the auto-update is that first a TXT is downloaded, which contains the information regarding the update. Then the DOL is downloaded following the accepted update screen.

The download should be a valid DOL, but I feel stupid for not being able to get the URL. It's right in front of me, but I'm 404'ing on all the version variables I've tried.

I really hope that a newer version can allow Wiiconnect24 to remain off even after you shutdown from the Homebrew Channel.

2 more suggestions for future hacks:
- Turn of the daily logs with played games
- Disable access to the wii's settings menu

also, a bug report (don't know if this is just for me)
any dol i try to load from within preloader crashes with a codedump

Hi all, I have updated preloader 0.28 without any problems. However, the Disc Channel cannot be moved anymore although I have it enabled in the settings.

Is this a known bug and what do I have to change to make it work again? Thanks...

spink, I'm having the same problem.

On a side note, CrazyIntro works fine (Thanks WiiCrazy for a nice app!).
There's also another bug, when enable the 4th hack, the 5th hack has a duplicate right below it. But we cannot cursor to the duplicate. Just that, it's there
