Allegedly, no Vita (or even PS3?) hardware bans or account bans happen nowadays.

Despite that, I read that there's a system that links a memory card to a PSN account, that there's a thing with trophies where they don't work after linking another account, that every game and homebrew playing status is shared, and whatnot.

Knowing all that, should I take any precautions? Also, what should I know before unlinking/linking another account in order to not lose access to anything?

before unlinking, i suggest to backup all saves you have before unlinking. and linking a new or a existing account. (it formats your memory card, i am not kidding)

for trophies, i have never had issues with trophy progression losses or any issues, but try to sync the trophy progress with the server first (just a precaution). then unlink.

Are you sure that unlinking from within homebrew tools doesn't bypass this? From what I gathered, some people like to swap accounts on the fly, surely they don't end up having to deal with that?

i never use account manager/swapper or other homebrews that much that prevents formatting.. but yeah. they don't encounter issues like that or get prompted to format since it doesn't really format your memory card on those methods. but always keep on lookout.

Update: After reading some more and applying some plugins, these are the precautions I took:
  • Moonshine plugin - default settings, blocks presence of homebrew titles
  • Vita Account Manager - delete execution history, then write-protect it and reboot
I didn't do IDPS spoofing as I couldn't find anyone providing IDPSes publicly or privately.

NoTrpDrm (plugin that enables homebrew trophies) isn't a concern as it doesn't sync homebrew trophies to PSN.

Also, I thought I'd mention that PSN login page (PS website) has had fingerprinting/spyware implemented for about a year, it makes it difficult to log in even with default browser settings. Updating and/or switching browser, and disabling adblock/Advanced Tracking Protection may help. Mentioning that since generating a one-time password is necessary to even be able to log in to PSN on a Vita/PS3 nowadays.

Just I don’t cheat in online games

Cheat trophies (unlock them with homebrew tools) or play homebrew that adds their own trophies with your main account

Avoid those 3 things and you won’t have issues

I already said that NoTrpDrm doesn't even cause homebrew trophies to sync. But yes, I heard that cheating in MP and cheating trophies is pretty much the only source of bans, automated bans presumably.

I'm not sure on that NoTrpDrm sync bit. Once trophies are earned, it's in the database none the wiser, pending sync like any official trophy. Thatt database step is the whole point of the plugin. No plugin plays a further part. I have accidentallly synced with my Sonic Mania trophies, but nothing bad happened. They likely block non-existent IDs on the server-side, without batting an eye (it wouldn't have the icons & metadata to show anyway).
