hey rayder whenever you update the usrcheat.dat could you put the date thing in your sig so we don't have to check this thread all the time
Yeah, I could do that, but I can't guarantee that I'll always remember to change it whenever I update the dat. But I'll put the "dat-date" in my sig shortly after writing this reply and try to remember to change it whenever I do update the dat.
If you added the Zelda cheats to your USRCHEAT.dat, they don't seem to appear.
The codes are there, I just looked. If you ARM fixed your ROM, then the ROM's GameID has changed and that's why the codes aren't showing for you.
Also, if you have an old cheat.dat on your card, either use the blank one in the download or just delete it. They can conflict with each other and can cause codes not to show. The cheat.dat doesn't even have to be in the system folder at all....only the usrcheat.dat. It will work that way.....that's the way I use it.
I believe what may be going on with codes not showing could have something to do with the size of the dat. If the combination of the cheat.dat and the usrcheat.dat go over a certain size (at this point undetermined as to how big that would be, some speculate 4megs, but it seems like it's less), the R4 has problems seeing them both. All the codes from the official R4DS cheat.dat are in my usrcheat.dat anyway.....except for maybe a few Japanese games that were removed because all they showed was question marks in the titles (which I'll re-add if requested). So unless you have personally added codes to the cheat.dat, you can just delete it from your card altogether and you shouldn't lose any codes.
The only other possible reason I could think that the codes aren't showing for you is the fact that the dat in my download is zipped (rar'd actually. Winrar or 7zip will un-rar it) and it has to be de-compressed before you add it to your card. This is generally obvious, but I though I'd mention that just in case.
Hope that helps.
EDIT: DOH! Almost forgot the main reason I was posting this reply.
I noticed that the backlight codes are kinda flaky in Zelda USA. Using them may cause the sound to disappear from the game. When this happens, you'll have to re-boot the DS to get the sound back.
Just though I'd give everyone the heads-up on that before they started blaming the R4/M3 for the problem. It's the code, not the card.
Also, notice the *Current dat-date* in my sig. That date is what the latest dat will be titled. To check what dat you currently have in your flashcart, go into any game with cheats, open the cheat menu and the date will be listed at the very bottom of the bottom screen. If I make multiple revisions to the dat in a single day, it will look like " 10-02-07-rev2" to reflect the fact that it was revised more than once in a single day.
