I still wonder why he decided to release this now that people can still use a hardmod to downgrade

softmodding is easier and better i guess, people like copying files to their sd cards and let the magic work by pressing a button

To have a decent effect this should have been kept private some more, if the workaround for the hack is really just that 32c3 race attack, it won't take long for Nintendo to patch it

They should have waited until ≥10.3 systems become rare. Any 3DS currently sold comes with at most 10.3.

This is reminding me of in the apple scene when ih8sn0w wasted a exploit on a jailbreak that would jailbreak outdated software by Apple.

this will save you from hardmodding for 10.6 and lower, but the next update won't have any Kernel11 exploit, and downgrade by hardmodding will be fixed.

How does that work? If 10.6 can flash 10.2 native_firm, what's stopping 10.8 etc from flashing the 10.6 native_firm?

Wasted or not he did a thing only very few have done about 3-5 Known kernals right? And he found a new one so wether it gets patched or not next update its still a huge success
