So it has been over the month since safehax came out with fasthax. Yet there has been no update to get rid of fasthax and safehax (which is good). This has left me wondering which of the following could happen: 1)They make a update to get rid of safehax,a9lh, and fasthax which would explain the long amount of time. 2)They don't give a crap and we never get a update 3) They make a 3ds update that gets rid of safehax and fasthax. I am really curious to what you guys think so please answer the poll:D

I'm almost 100% sure that A9LH won't be able to be removed (legally) with an update. I don't believe they are legally allowed to remove files the user has put on the SD card IIRC reading a while back. An update (12.0, maybe) will probably come out to patch the kexploit and probably a few other *hax exploits. I'd like to think that A9LH can't be removed but maybe I'll be sadly proven wrong.

Yeah but it could easily be removed I remember reading a comment a while ago saying it could be removed by Nintendo putting a a9lh.bin on the 3ds sd card that will uninstall a9lh and I was surprised Nintendo never thought of that. I do think that could be why or they have given up on the 3ds.

That, is essentially if you have the arm9loaderhax.bin on the CTR Nand essentially an update could do something to it?.. I'm not sure though.

If they tried to do something with an update to the firm1/firm0 it would probs result in mass bricks which, wouldn't be a good thing :P

Nintendo probably learnt from the last time they tried pulling shit like this on the Wii to remove the Homebrew channel (which also ended up bricking people's Wiis, Homebrew'd and non-Homebrew'd alike).

They also can't access the SD card (legally) to pull something like this off as a user could easily just set their SD card (especially the case of O3Ds SD cards with a physical lock) to "read only" so any Payload they'd like to put onto the SDcard, and launch on boot would fail because they wouldn't have write permissions to the SD card in the first place.

There's really no inconceivable way they could pull something off to remove A9LH. We're just too "close to the metal" for them to do anything. We're in their system before even their own OS loads/boots, so we get the first punch as it were (meaning we could patch certain patched sys calls etc before their OS has time to even load them (great example is the SVC backdoor they patched on 11.X, and in the same day - Luma had a patch which re-enabled it)).

They're most likely concentrating on the Switch, more than the 3DS at this point (to prevent a repeat of the 3DS modding scene most likely) but lets not forget, A9LH came about due to Nintendo making their boot sequence overly complicated, and thus - created loopholes due to how complicated it became. If they do the same with the Switch, expect A9LH-like exploits mid way through the Switch's lifetime due to bad program design decisions.

Now that I think about it, the switch already doesn't come with a camera, so qr codes are out of the question. Also, there's a chance that the browser could bean app that has to be downloaded from the eshop. Which could allow them to push out an update that fixes exploits, while blocking users from using the previous versions, ala Ironhax.

The end user (the one using the 3ds/switch) has to accept the update, that's the way it works.
The bad part is, someone working on 11.3 will just grab safehax/fasthax's source code and see how the exploit works.
Safehax saved me from hiring a hardmodder.

if they do patch the kernel exploits.. which is very likely, and if the roumors i've heard about the dsiware shop beeing pulled entirely in this march.. we will be fucked when it comes to ways to install a9lh, with no dsiware, say goodbye to dsi downgrade.

Safehax and Fasthax will be patched, though I am surprised it is taking them this long to do so.

Soundhax would likely be patched as well.

A9LH can't be patched, though extremely dirty tricks are always possible, but very unlikely.

They could have patched DSiWare NFIRM downgrades just by making the home menu require an 11.0+ NFIRM and it seems odd that they never did so. Of course, DSiWarehax could also be used to directly install sighax I believe, so even if NFIRM downgrading is patched it'll still have a potential use. I'd be surprised if they removed all DSiWare from the 3DS eShop though.

Most likely, every single device is vulnerable right now.

    Pretty sure they will .

I remember when DSI got a final update on December 2012 , when 3DS had 1 year in the market and Wii U was about to launch. Im expecting for the 3DS to launch the final update 1 year after Switch release.

And certainly , they cannot remove A9LH with an update. Remember when an update for Wii bricked alot of consoles , no matter if yours was soft-modded or not? Yeah , that could happen to 3DS if they try again so i assume they won't be even trying for that.

Besides , that $20,000 bucket thingy to discover exploits for the 3ds , in the end that hasn't worked as they hoped and overall it seems they still don't know how to quit A9LH on a 3DS

Im pretty sure the things they will patch in the next update will be soundhax , fasthax and safehax.

I see I forgot that we could disable write protection on our sds so looks like Nintendo has almost no way to patch it and when we have sighax they wont have any way to patch that. Looks like we have won :)

I'm pretty sure the only reason soundhax, fasthax, and safehax have not been patched yet, is because Ninty is focused on the Switch now. Although I don't doubt that at least one of these will be patched, it will most likely be the last 3DS firmware update. Personally, I just hope the 3rd Gen 7 Pokemon game will be released on 3DS.

Hopefully there will be no update. The Wii U and 3DS are both dying (the wii u i think is already dead), and they are both dying with pretty good exploits.

I have never ever heard of Wiis being bricked as a result of HBC/homebrew being removed by an update. Where are you getting this from?
There were some bricks occurring as a result of updates on region changed KOR systems (not related to HBC or anything like it, just specifically region changed KOR systems - these were even being sold in some countries as legit non-KOR systems), is that what you mean?

Here is one such article, talking about the Wii 4.2 update that tried to target HomeBrew users and ended up bricking legit users as well.

They did it before, they'll probably do it again. Unlike the Wii-U, the 3DS isn't dead, and Nintendo actually gives a fuck about the 3DS.
