What type of team should I make? I'm great at battling, and composing, but I haven't battled since summer, and out of the metagame. What's in? Offensive-Defense style Pokemon, Stalling, what?

In the current metagame, the most popular types of teams are Hyper-Offensive due to the availability Deoxys, Manaphy, Latios, and such. Stalling is an option due to Burungeru, Nattorei, and Shandera cores. You take your pick, but Hyper-Offense is generally better for now, just until the banning phase is done.

I dont really need the shiny dragonair anymore, i'll just stick with my regular one

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

If you would like a dragon dance set, you need physical attacks, like Outrage and Extremespeed. Hyperbeam is a horrible move. Ice Beam is useless. T-Bolt, take it off.

Even if you have one built, modify it if you don't want to be pounded by the current gen's threats. (Doryuuzu, Shanderaa, Sazandora, Roopushin, and such)

Will still not work. Here's a common moveset. Base it from here.

Dragon Dance
Outrage
Extremespeed
Earthquake

or

Superpower
Draco Meteor
Flamethrower
Thunderbolt

The second build looks good, do you think it'd be wise if i switched superpower with earthquake?

No. You need the coverage of Superpower rather than EQuake.
Wouldnt superpower lower your attack and defense, which you need for physical attacks? why would it be a benefit?

I was wondering if this team is good FOR the official English Version Pokemon White.

Daikenki wasn't built for competitive play. At all. Don't use it, there are many better water types. Perhaps a Gyarados? (There's a magikarp obtainable)

Darmanitan is a good Pokemon in-game, but it's too slow to have any competitive value. Replace. (import a Heatran or something)

Shibirudon's horrible speed is... well, horrible. Electivire is the obvious better choice. (A LOT BETTER)

The team lacks focus and synergy, there's no common focus in the team's strategy. Sandstorm serves no purpose here except to help Dory, and when Dory is gone, you can barely do anything anymore. It just lacks an overall strategy. Define your team first then rebuild it.

Yeah but what are some definition for teams? I'm quite new to competitive battling and I did read guides but I don't get what you meant by 'define your team'.

Find out what kind of team it is. If it's going to stall, offense, hyper offense, bulky offense, weather type.. and such. Make a definition on what your team will be doing. Build it from your definition, but make sure that the strategies of the different Pokemon fit. That they can cover each other's weaknesses, and that there are no contrasts. (like a Shedinja in a sandstorm team or something)

Let's see. What if I want to do a Hyper Offense? How should I start doing it? Like, building up the team needed.

I can choose to base it from one Pokemon which is called the "core" or it can also be based from a theme (weather, entry hazards, and such).

For example, if my core is Doryuuzu, I would build a team that covers his problems and weaknesses. I could also build a Rain Offense team with Politoed, then a bunch of Swift Swimmers that take advantage of this.

Oh, what does "Entry Hazards" ACTUALLY mean?

And is there a sort of theme that suits the Hyper-offense orientated team? What if I choose base on Sazandora? Is it a valid choice?
