I really just hope they add some new features but keep all the good ones.

e.g. phone, day+night cycle, battle with Ash etc

As I remember it Kanto(in G/S) just seemed buggy, lifeless and unfinished.

You are right, but the best thing about Kanto was the nostalgia and the extra Gym leader battles.

And I don't think they will bother with a Crystal version remake, because by the time it would be released, I'd expect the 5th generation game to be out. =P

The best thing was battling Red at the end of the game, that way the best battle ever! Love it when I'm really pushed to the limit with my Pokemon.
Kanto was indeed unfinished, you could play the Kanto region out in 5 hours or so.

Remember that Nintendo ONLY releasing games, they dont make games unless it's from their publishers. GameFreak is the one making the decisions on wether to have new features or not.

And yes, if this was a GS remake, it will have the Pokemon Platinum engine with DSi features on a DSi-only card or DSi-enhanced cards

I have the exactly opposite opinion. After playing with the 4th generation 3d games, advanced generation with a similar style, but in 2D, feels like an unfinished redesign of the original graphics.
If someone were however to port the new technical changes in R/S/FR/LG/E and D/P/P to the graphic style of the original G/S games, like running shoes, touchscreen (for battles and pokécom) and WiFi, that would be even more awesome than G/S with the D/P/P engine.

If this was a GS remake, we will see a hybrid 2D/3D graphics - same as Pokemon Platinum.

The people behind the franchise recently said, after the release of Pokemon Diamond, that they were not planning to bring the series to the Nintendo Wii but that new installments on the Nintendo DS were a possibility. They also stated that the series would continue to be 2D for the foreseeable future, as the distinctive art style of the television show could not be faithfully recreated in 3D.

Also, we saw 2 giant balls hanging in the ceiling. So this means that there are no PBR2, Snap 2, Ranger 3. Unless, of course, they announce two independent games together.

I'm still not yet convinced that this will be a GS remake but I do have the energy and excitement that it will be.

I hope this game would be completely 2D (like Shiny Gold) cos when it is 3D it feels sorta, different and empty, especially in caves and large patches of wild grass.

Exactly, think about all the potential customers with Lites, wouldn't be a smart move if Nintendo actually did that though.

I don't think Nintendo would make this only for the DSi, since majority of the people own Dses, and that the hardcore fans who own Dses would rampage the streets holding a protest against Nintendo.

You have to watch it from the night of saturday to sunday. Though you have to check the time difference between to watch it properly.

Here, in germany for example you have to watch it in the night of saturday to sunday at 00:30pm to 01:30am (in the night).
