Pokemon Go has added the ability to trade Pokemon and the ability to add friends.

After adding your friend via a friend code, you'll be able to interact with them a few different ways:
  • Giving Gifts
  • Raiding
  • Trading
Pokestops will now occasionally give "gifts", which cannot be opened by you, only sent to friends. They contain a variety of items, including new 7k eggs, which will be the only way to obtain certain Pokemon like the new generation 1 Alolan Pokemon. Through this and other interactions, including trading and raiding together, you will be able to increase the level of friendship once per day. There are five friendship levels, from friends to best friends, with it taking around 90 days worth of interactions to become best friends. The higher your friendship level, the lower the cost for trades, and the greater the attack bonus for raiding with your friend. Trading requires being friends, and requires stardust to trade. The amount of stardust varies depending on level of friendship, as well as "specialness" of the Pokemon.

There is also a limit of 200 friends at the moment, with a limit of opening 20 gifts a day.

The Pokémon GO team said:
When you send a Gift to a friend or participate in a raid or Gym battle with them, you can increase your Friendship Level. As your Friendship Level builds, you’ll then unlock bonuses when you play together. For example, when you and a Great Friend participate in a Gym battle or Raid Battle together, you can earn an Attack bonus to give your Pokémon an edge! You can increase your Friendship Level once per day per friend...Certain Pokémon, such as a Legendary Pokémon, a Shiny Pokémon, or a Pokémon not currently in your Pokédex, require a Special Trade to complete, so keep that in mind before trading away that golden Magikarp! Special Trades can only occur once per day with a Great Friend or Best Friend, and it often requires a lot of Stardust to complete a Special Trade

Feel free to share your friend code if you're looking for some trades or someone to send gifts to.
