@GreatCrippler

Did you not read my post? I have the SDK and have done tests, the transfer rate is in fact a limiting factor. I never said the emulation aspect was slow.

A limiting factor? You mean something that should be anticipated, and easily compensated for? True. I suppose it is that.

For all the people complaining about input lag or video lag, here is something to think about.

Despite there being a fairly powerful CPU and ram built into the card, there is still the transfer speed between the DS and the slot 1 card which severely limits the effective power. For the games with minor lagging, they are probably already emulating full speed but appear laggy due to the slow transfer. While this concept may not seem obvious to the average user of applications, as a developer with the SDK, it is not hard at all to create a laggy product. Just transferring 2 screens worth of data effectively slows the cards performance down by 50% regardless of its cpu speed because of the transfer speed of the slot one. So I'm sure you can imagine, and do see the same issue with transferring audio along with video.

Basically what I'm saying is you may never get full speed - none laggy emulation with audio and video due to the speed between the slot 1 and the DS itself. The gba emulator from what I have tested is as good as can get for the hardware, if not a few optimizations to decrease slowdowns, and I have yet to test the snes emulator but I suspect the same issue.

So there is no need to bash the Supercard team for being lazy or horrible programmers, they are just merely making the best of the situation and working around the DS's and the Supercards limitations.

Hopefully this gives a little more insight in the situation of the emulators and maybe some people may appreciate the products for their amazing performance despite these short comings rather then criticizing without knowledge.

Are you seriously blaming the transfer rate? I love when people roll out a huge line of what they consider to be "logic." Then for some reason, they think... "I got it! This is now the truth." This emulator is late, and well under expectations. The technology present is more than adequate for perfect GBA emulation, and with work, near perfect SNES emulation. Sadly, we seem to get these half done emulators instead.

Yo. Don't bash BassAceGold. He speaks the truth.

And people really have to stop bashing the Supercard team. This is the first release of the emulator - if there is room for improvement it will be improved. this is only the first release! Calm the fuck out, everyone... I'm tired of all this pointless argument.

Now on a positive note, I really appreciate the fact I can play Earthbound and Mother 3 full speed with no slowdown on the SC DS2 Emulators. =) It makes me really really happy, now that the day has finally come lol.

How do you compensate for low throughput?

I'd love to hear your theories.

Knew better than to do this. Always turns into a flame war. "Low Throughput" (nice use of a big word there, btw) is completely relative in this case. The amount of data packet loss on this is there. On the same token, the amount is still completely within range to have an emulator playing a system this old to transfer at a full speed rate. From a programming standpoint, it goes like this. Calculate the amount of packet loss. Overcompensate in a way that allows the emulator to appear to be running faster than the real system would have. Give the user an option to lock fps in a way to make the game slow back down to "full speed" ... Profit?

You know, I've never actually used any cart/UI other than an R4 clone, AK2i, and moonshell...

I used the word "throughput" because it's a manifestation of bandwidth.

I asked you how you would compensate for it.

HOW would you?

That's my question.

You're saying they should be able to compensate for it because they knew about it in advance, right?

My question is how do you compensate for it AT ALL?

That'd be more of a path toward a solution rather than compensation.

I'm not talking about packet loss, I'm talking about a low amount of data, a throttled pipe, low bandwidth, LESS KBPS.

HOW would you compensate for it?

If you can't even name a single actual way (it can be done in one word!), then I'll have to ask you to stop talking out of your ass.

That was sort of the point I was going for. >.>
Was it? Was it really?

I'm gonna have to go with my furry friend on this one.

Profanity? How cute. So, I am the one who is talking out my butt eh? In that case, what is the bandwidth? What are the figures on this low amount of data? I am not throwing out solutions because you're generalizing a problem that you have no idea even exists?

Yawn.

I hope that the special chips can emulated to a better degree later on. I also wouldn't mind a more stable emulation, as skips can really trip a guy up in his SF2 fights.

Boy, you're dangerously close to trolling now.

I'm asking you to back up your claim.

I am calling "bullshit" on your claim.

1 - You made the claim first, you claimed that knowing about it in advance would let you compensate for it.
2 - I asked you to tell me how it could be compensated for at all.

We're still on step 2, which you're doing your best to try to avoid because you realized you got caught bullshitting.
No, I don't play that shit.

Back up your original claim or retract it.

I will do neither at this point. I typed out a nice long paragraph about what a profane little jerk you are, but it doesn't matter. Supercard came up with their promised emulator. Late, and crappy, but here it is. If you really care to hear my opinion try speaking to someone like a person instead of cussing at them. That said, think me a troll. I care not in the slightest, I promise.
