The thing is, though, that Plailect's guide isn't necessarily just maintained by Plailect. Of course, he pushes all the public revisions, but everything included in the guide is well tested by known developers before it ever makes it to the guide. Whereas YouTube uploaders just makes guides willy nilly with no regard to just how volatile this scene is.

Yes, at one time Plailect's guide recommended OTP-less installations for N3DS users, and that turned out to be an impending train wreck. No author is perfect, especially when they have positive evidence to go on. My argument, though, was solely toward video guides that have sprung up in abundance as of recent due to 11.2 now being fully exploitable along with a new ARM9 exploit, and the massive wave of new users we've incurred that are all complaining about something going wrong after following these videos. We've all warned users against following videos on installing A9LH for months now, and quite honestly I wouldn't have felt it necessary to even post this thread if there wasn't such a surge of new users with their new Christmas presents that are all mostly following these videos. I'm trying to be helpful as well, but it's like telling someone a stove is hot and they touch it anyway because they don't wanna hear it.

ok you hear about them because those newb are complete idiots.
they are basically confused and skipping parts in my opinion.
i seen lots of those videos poping out lately on youtube and they didnt miss anything since the video is recent.
today we are the 7th and the most recent video posted about this context was the 5th.
so its really the problem of the newbs.

While I agree (to an extent), my point is that video guides make it even more likely for noobs to make errors that could lead to bricks or other things going wrong in comparison to Plailect's guide.

its not the video since everything is there for the viewer to know.
mostly the date as well because they have to know how recent the video is to actualy trust it.

My point is that they could just use Plailect's and avoid all of the issues that video guides have. Saying "I prefer video guides" isn't really important, as someone could also say "I prefer to skip steps in guides"; neither are valid.

You may have a point, but I think we should still try to discourage video guides, and make it as clear as possible that when following guides people should read and follow every step. There are already heaps of warnings in Plailect's, yet people still keep making disastrous mistakes purely out of user error.

3ds.guide is insanely well made, and half of the stuff that was made in there, was created by the same person who created the guide (PlaisysUpdater, sysDowngrader(?, I don't remember if he made this one so...)

1) Solid help from this community + sometimes from Plailect himself
2) always updated, but always safe. The guide even includes on how to hack Panda 3DS's....

What will you get from a YouTube guide? Even the Youtuber does not care to help people(well most of what I have seen), they only do the guide and that's it. Its your responsibility if something happens. Plus, who tells you that you're following an updated YouTube guide? 3-4 months ago, there were people still following tutorials on how to install RxTools

it's not the video, its the newbs forgetting to check the date.

you say that the videos are an replica of the guide but visual, so i don't see no flaws there.
they even show you the steps. LIKE ACTUALY SHOWING IT TO YOU.
it's just the date that it is published and if the newb is skipping ahead.

Actually yes, I have seen those videos(even the current ones), and I will still prefer to recommend 3ds.guide, for the only reason being that there is nothing that assures you that the files you are downloading are safe, compared to 3ds.guide, it gives you the link to download them from their own github, making those download the latest and safest ones...

they give us visual steps on how to do it even if the viewers didn't understand what the youtuber meant to say.
videos are there to help another demographic unlike the guide.

this is why we ask them what were they doing before getting it.

They can easily make a malicious SafeA9LHInstaller, and give it to all of them to install.

he even warns the newbs that the guide isn't completed (he didnt even ported everything from the old guide tot he new one).
