wym reading lmao, we got things like audiobooks in our day.
this generation rejects reading ALOT.
videos are the goat.
outdated NO PROBLEM.
updated video appears.

And this is the reason why we get even native English speakers typing and writing like illiterate troglodytes. Reading is important. It builds upon one's vocabulary and context comprehension skills. I even taught myself a little bit of German (enough to understand context) by doing this. It's not hard. People these days are just so conditioned and used to being handed everything on a convenient, silver platter. Unfortunately, this leads to problems (IE, my point behind this thread).

Not every noob knows about this website or the guide you know.They all start somewhere then learn what's best later on.

there is more problem reading something than watching a video.
a video is quick. its a visual learning. and really efficient.
reading got lots of flaws.
boredom, forget which part you were reading when you do a quick brb, and its hard to focus.
blame the newbs for doing actions they dont know themselves such as skipping.

If you can't handle reading you shouldnt be modding. Videos don't account for things that can go wrong or troubleshooting issues. Its usually poorly put together and skips important info.

its not about improving reading. its about getting the knowledge in a quick way.
videos are basically SHOWING YOU EVERYTHING TO DO.
you can write something, but still there some people wont get it.
a video though. can show something and you wont even need to break your head to get the puzzle done.

with how quick the scene moves, video guides tend to get outdated very quickly for them to be useful. they can include things like mistakes or incorrect information, or steps users no longer need to do (like 9.2 downgrading!). a written guide is far easier to update than a video one. there have also been cases of some video guides including files like otp.bin(console-specific) which end up bricking users. this has happened before.

no I will never recommend a video guide for custom firmware regardless if a video is easier to follow, and you shouldn't to. the risk is not worth it.

lots of people are different, there is lots of things that can happen that can lead to making an individual less intellectual.

i covered that already read the thread (lots of newbs read the guide and got bricked for the same reason ''where is the OTP.bin'') not lying at all i seen those threads poping everywhere after that guide got an update and when CTRtransfer is a thing.

yeah so? it still does not make it any better. I mostly likely will point to a video guide (if one is used) as the cause of a brick because more often than not that is exactly what happens. I can tell you this from what I've seen.

I'm a hands on learner and I will research before hand to make sure I understand how things work. Not listen to someone that may have just followed a tutorial but doesn't know why it works. The guide breaks things down into an easier to understand format sure, but it also gives links to resources to explain how and why things work. I thought you're argument was that reading is too complicated? If people need a handholding video for this stuff, then they have no business modding. Because they're stupid. No, it's really not, but thanks for the bad analogy. And no, the people on YouTube aren't making it better, obviously. That's why I made this thread in response to ten or so threads a day we get complaining about a video somebody followed.
