A brand new official firmware for the PlayStation 4 has just been released by Sony. System version 6.70 seems to be yet another "stability" update, bringing no new features for the end user with it. Not much is known about what's been changed internally at the moment and, as such, users interested in any currently available or future exploits should avoid updating their console. The official changelog for the update reads as follows:

This system software update improves system performance.

Why are people bitching and moaning about stability?
I never had a crash on my ps4, and i played quite a bit of games on there.

Stability is a running joke when it comes to system updates.

Nintendo had a long streak of updating their systems with the change-log simply saying:
"Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience"

After that stability caught on as a joke, but it's also used for non-Nintendo consoles/updates.

5.07. There is supposed to be a private exploit that works on later firmwares but that probably won't be released until the PS5 is out, if ever.

You guys are not helping the hacking community at all. Waiting for an exploit isn't helping. We're all here complaining XBOX ONE and PS4 aren't hacked to the latest firmware. Do some experimenting and start doing your own hacks. Waiting for public release while Sony and Microsoft patching their systems isn't gonna cut it

Let's hope the new patch blocks the private exploit on firmwares higher than 5.05. That way the private exploit will be released to the public.

Well, mine either but some people are moaning about stability to their iPhone. I never had a problem with my iPhone but I update it anyway thanks to them. Obviously, some iPhone have a problem. That's strange.

My ps4 has crashed before, not often but its happened. Most games are tested well enough these days, but every now and then a strange crash can happen. I believe anthem was notorious for crashing on ps4 for example.

"Stability" and "improved system performance" usually mean "We patched some exploits. Nothing else has changed, but we can't publically come out and say 'Patched kernel mode exploit related to the browser in firmware version x.x', so here's some stability."

Only improves system performance? Take that Sony, Nintendo's update makes their system more stable.
