I haven't played MH3 yet, but hasn't it a non-nintendo wi-fi system which made you speak with strangers...

The problem with the classic controller is that it doesn't have enough buttons. Wii Mote can pull it off with gestures and stuff.

GC controller could work. Button Map:

A: Sprint
B: Melee
X: Switch weapons
Y: Reload
RT: Fire
LT: Aim
Z + RT: Primary Grenade
Z + LT: Secondary Grenade
D pad: Kill Streaks
Z: Could be used for free moving in viewing mode.

Hit Stick and Analog stick have their obvious uses.
