What is the current emulator of choice? I'm staring at my supposedly "Limited Edition" copy of Skyward sword that I just can't get into because, frankly I suck at waggle. I do! I'd really rather just play the dang thing with a controller of KB/Mouse and see if I can get into it.

    Any suggestions?

It would be considerably more difficult with a mouse and keyboard...

But, "Dolphin" is the best (and... only?) Wii emulator around.

    Link to their website:
    <snip>

It also supports Nintendo Game Cube games.

It IS possible to use Wii Remotes iirc.

Lets put it this way. I can't get past the first fight with Ghirahim due to my waggle suckage. I'm told it's because I'm trying to play the game sitting down, and the Wii motion is expecting a wider range of movement than I'm giving it. Meh! So not happening.

I'll give Dolphin a shot. Thanks!

I've beaten the whole game on while lying in my bed... xd that should do it.

    Maybe try a different strategy!

Also you can import/export your wii saves from this emu! :D

That's not their website. Look at those ads. Their real website is http://dolphin-emu.org/

Their old domain, they moved servers last year. Then there's the forums, where one can get assistance

    forums.dolphin-emu.org

What are your PC specs? CPU, GPU, etc.

I don't think you'll have any issues then  Except maybe The Last Story, which may require an overclock; it's the most intensive Wii game along with Xenoblade.

You won't be able to play Skyward Sword without a Wiimote. It depends heavily on motion controls and battles are focused around it.

Even if you can emulate the MotionPlus you won't be able to kill many of the enemies because you need to swipe the Wiimote in a specific direction and you just can't emulate that well with a keyboard or gamepad.

If you emulate it with the mouse, you'll end up doing the same thing you would be doing with a Wiimote, only in a more difficult and less intuitive way. It probably won't be very enjoyable.

But the motion control is so bad, you can barely play it WITH a Wii remote.

That's terrible news! I think Skyward Sword will have to be the only Zelda game that I haven't beaten that isn't also a cereal or on the CD-I

I googled around a bit and found some discussion about a classic controller hack that someone was using... but no actual links or tutorial. :(

Have you eliminated the possibility that your wiimotion+ might be faulty or something? It was pretty nice to use for me (except for the damn tightrope balancing sections, grr!)

It was fine for me. I had trouble getting the angle of my slashes just right on some kinds of enemies and that was an annoyance, but other than that the game was very enjoyable.

Huh, I thought SS was one of the few Wii games to actually use motion controls well (along with Metroid Prime Trilogy).

It's not the wiimote+, as I have 3 of them. I'm just very terrible at waggle. I was excellent at Metroid Prime Trilogy and Twilight Princess. The + just wants skillz that I don't have (I am so lame! :glare: )

You know this game requires skill, change your strategics, lol.
DO NOT WAGGLE, the sensors will pick it up.
FYI I also played the whole game lying on bed. ( being sick as hell )
