Gaming PAL games on NTSC Wii?

I'm not really familiar with the dimensions of PAL TVs, so I wanted to ask if playing PAL games on a US Wii would either cut off part of the picture or perhaps leave black bars, or worse, stretch the image? How is the experience, generally speaking?
