Hacking Out of Religion/Different language game saves

Basic question is, if have a North American NTSC wii and play a Japanese game(SSBB) will my saves work with the North American version of the game?

SSBB (jap) is my first out of region game, and first none English. so i thought others that have two versions of the game on the same wii might be able to tell me if the saves are compatible.

Nope, every different region of the same game creates a new save for itself. They don't recognize another one being there already.
