According to an exclusive report from Deadline, actor Oscar Isaac is set to take on the role of the iconic Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid live-action movie adaptation. Issac, known for his role of Poe Dameron in Star Wars, even expressed his interest to portray Snake last year in an interview. It seems like he will actually get the coveted role.

Regarding the movie, not much is known, other than it will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Robets, director of Kong: Skull Island, overt MGS fan and even made a cameo in Death Stranding. Additionally, the script will apparently be written by Derek Connolly while Avi Arad will be producing.

How the movie adaptation will fit in the MGS video game timeline hasn't been revealed but we could start to get more details following this news.

Eh, from what I remember about Poe from Star Wars, I'm not sure I get Snake out of him.

Best wishes, but I got zero faith in video game adaptations.

Also, he was pretty mediocre in Star Wars.

AFAIK Snake has been inspired by Kurt Russell from 'Escape from New York' but he's old.. and this guy.
    Not sure.

    IKR?

As much as people hated him replacing David Hayter, at least Kiefer Sutherland has proven himself to be an intimidating monster on 24, and it's not like he couldn't pull off being emotional, as he does have moments that humanize him in the show...but IDK.

Really? FFS! He's not even close to the looks.

Honestly, I'd rather see someone like Christian Bale. Or Hugh Jackman.

Christian Bale is the best candidate for Solid Snake.

The only person fit to play live Solid Snake is David Hayter.

Snake's character during PS1 era came mostly from his voice.

Perhaps, but voice artists are specialized in providing voices. For a role like this, DH would have to workout to look like the character, perform stunts, and work with others in person. For them to use his voice would require either for him to dub over the OG actor's voice, or for the movie to be a CGI film.

I can't see anyone fitting the role other than David Hayter. You only need to hear his voice to know it's Snake. And I fear Oscar is going to butcher it.

I think he has the face and voice, don't get me wrong. It's just that, if this isn't some CG film, and he has to do more in front of a camera than just read lines, is very different from just being the voice actor to a character in a video game. For example, Christian Bale? He had to put in some work to become Batman and to actually appear like someone who'd have the physique to take on the villains Batman did in the Dark Knight trilogy:

This is ridiculous. How a voice actor to portray a cinema character?

You are now banned from playing Metal Gear Solid.

    Hollywood ruins characters this way.

Did you see Ghost in the Shell?
Crazy eyed ScarJo was neither Japanese, nor beautiful.

I've always thought Jensen Ackles would make a good Solid Snake. Looking forward to seeing him in The Boys season 3.

Terrible choice.. but it doesn't matter as it will probably be a terrible movie.
