Hacking Opening the wii -do i lose my save games ?

As the topic says, do i lose my save games if i open the wii (pull out the battery) ?
Are there other things i need to back up?
I saw an topic a while ago stating that you can get trouble getting wii news or weather working again, is this true ?
What do i have to do to not get that issue ?
Is it easy for nintendo to see if i have opened my console ? If a problem accours later that is not my foult how likely is it that nintendo will refuse to replace it ?

when you open the wii, you have to remove the small battery that's inside the box.

your wii settings are lost, but not your savegames

You know what I lost? All my my Everybody Votes data. It was kinda annoying actually.

Yeah, I had to reset my data for Everybody Votes. It was telling me I had 111, 109 and 107 days until the poll ended, and I had already corrected the date and time!

Did your news channel stop working too? I managed to fix the votes channel but I'm still unable to download any news. However, the weather and shop channels work fine.

I've read uplugging your wii for at least 10 minutes solves the "channel" problems we are having. I had no problem with anything but Everybody Votes.

I have now opened my wii 3-4 times and all the times all i lost was time and date i think...
