@stranno I've tried a few times but I'm getting the 'signature fail' error when trying to update to the latest build you provided

Is there a workaround you know of ?

You need to enable "Enable loading external FIRMs and modules" in Luma3DS configuration (power on the console holding SELECT).

It could be that. I have tried the compiled binary and it boots open_agb_firm fine.

Thanks, I'll give that a try

EDIT - sorry, what I meant is fastboot itself will not allow me to update to the newer build of fastboot you provided, it gives me the signature failed message

Oh, ok. I was launching it through payloads launcher. Check this:

OpenFirmInstaller only allows installing official (= signed) releases of fastboot3ds. Developers wanting to test their own builds can install fastboot3ds custom builds via GodMode9.

@peteruk I found the "fastboot3ds" compiled version from somebody on GitHub (on an answer about a reported issue). But, sadly, I've can't find that exactly answer again. Instead, I've found on my browsing history this another related link, but I don't sure to you that's the exactly version:

https://static.jonirrings.com/fastboot3DS.firm

Weird. I installed that version I found throught "fastboot3ds" updater itself, without problem. And apparently is a compiled version from the latest github commit (as seen on the next picture):

Thanks for your initial guidance and follow up information, I've got it running beautifully now. Had you not given me the heads up I probably wouldn't have bothered tbh, but I am glad you did now - thank you :)

I guess I could possibly get laughed at for this but here goes anyway

I know we already have a great way of playing NDS games directly from the SD but what I was wondering is would it be possible to have an open-firm type loader similar to this one but for NDS games ?

(You don't ask, you will never know)

That's much harder, hence everyone is doing GBA first. I'd say someone will work on it once open_agb_firm reaches a certain feature set (as in, it won't be in this current prerelease state, and it'll be more polished than it is now).

oooh very interesting, thank you for that information :)

this method of doing things is just so clean and easy, I love being able to power on and simply load a rom

I guess if they could get saves 100% working that would be great too, the future is bright

I hope profi200 can tackle the 1:1 resolution. It seems that upscaling is built in along with other features that can conflict if upscaling is disabled.

It should happen eventually. There are just more important issues which need fixing, like the softlock ("black screen on boot" issue) which happens when you boot open_agb_firm with certain bootloaders.

I tried using this thing and I can't seem to load it. It just shuts off the system. Someone in the bug report says I should use the latest version of fastboot but I don't know how to compile it. The latest available version 1.2 from 2019 didn't work. The source seems to have been updated 5 months ago, but again, I don't know how to compile it. :(

This is the very latest release (is about 1 month aprox):

https://github.com/profi200/open_agb_firm/releases/latest

You can load it using Luma's chainloader (you must necessarily have 2 or more .firm payloads on "SD:/luma/payloads" location) or (perharps) you can load it directly renaming one of that .firm payloads as "boot.firm" and put it on your SD's root if you will

Finally got around to trying this. I'm impressed by how well it runs for a FIRM payload (though ik it uses the native hardware)!
I'm hoping to see more FIRM-developed homebrew in the future.
I do wonder how arguments could be passed to a FIRM payload, whether it be from 3DS mode or DS(i) mode.

Im having an issue i placed the openagb.firm in luma/payloads and it works great if i launch it from godmode9 but if i try to use the .3dsx or cia linked in the op it kicks me back to the 3ds main menu. Am i doing something wrong or does anyone know of a fix?

Are there guides to installing this? I followed this youtube to jailbreak my 3ds.

I don't see any file to install cia.

Hey,

Are there any guides to install this? I followed this guide to jailbreak 3ds.

I don't anything to to install for fbi?

I've already answered about that to you here:

About cia installation, indeed, there's a possible (indirect) way, if you will. But you need fastboot3ds installed on your console (if you don't have any idea about fastboot3ds is, then just avoid it better):

Using YouTube external tutorials is (and will be always) a bad idea (because many of them are obsolete/older, or have bad explanations, or use obsolete/dangerous/illegal files that can eventually brick or get banned your console). We never recommend follow YouTube videoguides. Have in account on next occasions
