Uhh not as free roam as you ight like because you choose a map and then go there but Phantasy star zero is quite good for it and if you struggle with the control of the camera a bit don't gve up on this game because of it, you get used to it.

Yeah, never really thought about, but from the little I did play of that game, it does give you a lot of freedom in terms of when and where you go throughout its dungeons. Wasn't something that held my interest, but I know a few folks who got into it.

The Tony Hawk games, though, probably offer the most interesting and enjoyable gameplay, as far as open-world stuff on DS goes. The Transformers thing was a great template for what can be done, but it wasn't very fun. The only real interest came from doing the missions, and well, that's usually not what makes an open-world game very enjoyable. In Transformers' case, the missions weren't too hot, either, so it was a double whammy.

Jackass had kind of an open-world thing going on, and though it was completely panned by critics, there were some stupidly amusing things to do in the game.
