Hacking Old Ak2i on the 3DS?

Anyone know how to get an old Ak2i that I had for the DSi XL working on the 3ds? I downloaded the update NDS file but I can't upgrade it because when I put the card in, it gives me the 'error has occurred' message.

My 3ds version is 1.1.0-0E
