Hi guys,

I wanted to ask, is it okay to get scrubbed releases or should I just go ahead and get the exact 1 to 1 copies ? Do scrubbed releases get blocked from booting or something with Wii updates ? may be coz they are "trucha signed" or something. I don't even know what "Trucha signed" means, but I read on the internet somewhere that the ISO needs to be "closed" after removing the "garbage data" etc.

Well, its a little confusing for me. So what would you guys suggest ?

Any insight in this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx a lot in advance

Scrubbed games are just fine, no need to worry about them unless you have the 3.3 update on your Wii. If you have 3.3 then you will need to boot Gecko OS to run the game.
These scrubbed games are smaller than 4GB because most of the pointless filler data is removed, in that case it makes it faster for us to download.

Well, my Wii is still on 3.0U Super Mario Galaxy update, but it's gonna update sooner or later. Nintendo's gonna release a game that's gonna have that update. I guess am better off getting the 1 to 1 copies

I don't mind downloading the extra data. Am gonna be using a full 4.5 GB DVD for one game anyways

Thanx a lot for your advice

Code:
Q30. I've heared that scrubbed discs do not work under IOS37 - is this true?

ÂÂÂÂ IT DOES NOT USE THE TRUCHA BUG UNLESS YOU CHANGE A FILE. THE TRUCHA BUG IS FIXED UNDER 37.

You do not need to boot Gecko etc. to get them working even if you have the 3.3 Update.

Nintendo could possibly detect them in a future firmware update though.

I always download the full unscrubbed releases. I have no bandwith limit on my connection or something like that, so I see no reasons for going for scrubbed versions

I can confirm what dack is saying. The scrubbed releases that float around on the internet do not use the Trucha bug. It simply changes the encrypted rubbish data into easily compressed 1's and 0's. No tampering with the actual data that is used is done. It will work for now and it doesn't seem it will change anytime soon. And if it does, no one can stop the pirate scene. We are to powerful.

Just to Dack: working on anything new now that the final version of wiiscrubber has been released?

The partition.bin editor is close to finished and there's an intriguing development in multidisc. Lets just say "(TRIM)" - just waiting for the second part to be finalised.

The problem with trimming is that you have to use the Trucha bug

Hence limiting it to those people with modchips and a pre 3.3 (or Gecko boot)

Getting some interesting result anyways.
