ok i dont have the firmware for the wii, i found out about it today and i upgraded my wii to 4.0 a few weeks ago. so yea i just heard of the USB loader just now. what does it do and does it require firmware? please help me

USB Loader saves Wii games on a external USB Hard Drive, USB thumb drive or SD card..
Its the best way to play Wii game back ups.

You need the home brew channel to use it..

I think there's a way to soft mod you're Wii and get the Home brew even tho you updated to 4.0..

Does it require firmware? Don't know what you're talking about. All Wii consoles have a firmware.

If you upgraded to 4.0 without at least installing the homebrew channel on your wii first then you can't do anything with it now anyways. All you need along with the usb loader is to install cios rev 9 or above (which can't be done on a virgin 4.0 wii). Then you can just install all of your games onto an external hard drive and have them run with faster than retail load times.

But yea considering this is your first post and you upgraded your wii to 4.0 a few weeks ago, I'm assuming you didn't install the homebrew channel already.

So you're screwed out of this for now until a new exploit comes out for 4.0.

Yeah, all you can do now is wait. I'm on that same boat kinda. I just have a bricked 3.2u and the only thing i can do is update to 4.0u.

Just so we won't be left out, i suggest you just buy a mod chip for now, then install Homebrew Channel later.

A couple years. Give or take a couple.

Also, soft modding has nothing to do with taking your wii apart hence "soft". A hard mod would be something to do with that like installing a mod chip. In the soft modding process you would use the game Twilight Princess to sorta "break" the wii by running a specific save file and from that you can install the homebrew channel and then use that to install/run whatever else you need (which of course doesn't work on 4.0 anymore).

If updating is all thats stopping you why not upgrade to 3.4 then do the TP hack and downgrade again???
