Gaming Ocarina of Time 3DS Shadow Temple spikes

I got to the room in the Shadow Temple with the 2 Redeads and 3 sets of spikes on the floor, and I can step on them for about 3 seconds before they damage me.
From what I remember from previous plays, those are supposed to do damage on contact.
Can someone tell me if it's a bug, or maybe I don't remember the game that well.

No.
should have made that clear.

No hover boots, and when I step over the spikes link is floating, so the hit-box is registering, but no damage, at least not immediately.

This game has tons of glitches, just Google for them.
