Hardware Nunchuck needs a fixing

So I followed a guide to putting LED lights into the nunchuck and Wiimote. I successfully lighted my Wiimotes A button and the analog stick of one of my nunchucks (they look really cool btw

). However, the first nunchuck that I lighted does not work anymore. The Wii recognizes the nunchuck is connected, but the analog stick does not have any response. I'm thinking that I might have fried the internals of the nunchuck, but why would the Wii still recognize the nunchuck at all? Any help to recover the nunchuck would be good.

I've never put LED's in a nunchuck before, but I have put it in a Dreamcast memory card.
What happened was kinda like what happened here, the LED lit up on the memory card, but when I tried using the analog stick, nothing on screen would move.
I took the memory card with the LED out, and it worked fine, I suggest try taking the LED out and see what happens.
