Is it actually possible to play NTSC-J Wii or Gamecube games on a PAL Wii?

I have some imported japanese games which I copied to USB but I have never been able to get a single one to boot.
I've tried patching the games, turning on all kinds of region free settings, Downloaded a copy online in case it was just my iso, tried it on a disk and tried it on USB but nothing ever seems to work.

I can get PAL and NTSC games to work fine just not NTSC-J.

Do you have dx v8 cios's?
I've tried them before and it didn't work, but my cios are a mess at the moment from trying different things.
Everything but NTSC-J and Gamecube emulation on dios mios works fine.

I'm running Captain Rainbow NTSC-J fine on my PAL wii - one thing you could try is change the language setting to Japanese :)

Some NTSC-J games normally doesnt work with PAL wiis, but I made some small patch which is available in DIOS-MIOS Booter to get all NTSC-J games to work, so if it doesnt run you may try it out ;)
