I've been getting that error message when I try to install my hard copy DVD backups with usbloader gx. About half of my DVD backups work when I install them and the other half give the 'Not a Wii Disc' error message. All of these DVD backups work by themselves, but I want them all on a HDD. Any help would be much appreciated.

Mine would only copy verbatim rbrand disk and it was slow. best use img burn make an img and transfer from computer

I tried that and unfortunately, it didn't work. The non installable backups work fine with Neogamma r8, but they just aren't recognised by the usb backup loaders (including usbloader gx and wiiflow).

When I was getting games for a friend, I didn't want to redownload them so I used the discs I already had. I hada set my read speed to 2x/2x (video & data) in IMGBurn for it to re-burnable and read by the Wii. But we both had hardmods so it could be different.

(sorry for my bad english)
I had the same problem.

but know i know why usb loader gx don't install some of my backups.

in the beginning whit the first backup loader on the wii. the iso files must be "patchet" by some prog. so the loader could read the game. this type of burnd games can not read bij usb loader gx

I think some of my other backup DVDs had to be patched, and they copied fine. Do you know of another usbloader that is compatible with all patched DVDs?

the reason you get that error is because the game fails teh check where the loader looks for the wii magic word. somehow between the time when those games were originals and when you put them on a dvd-r, something happened to screw up the disc header or the magic word that is being looked for.

you can take the source of any of these loaders and omit that check and try that. it will most definitely copy a game to your hdd. whether or not it will start i cant say. i never tried it.

Do any of them have a setting where I can omit that check? I don't think I have the skills to edit the source to do that.

nope. if this was omitted then there would be a bunch of people trying to add gamecube games and stuff that didnt work and creating a bunch of threads about it not working.
