I used the "Fully SoftMod Any Wii" guide to get BootMii and upgrade to 4.1.

Whenever I try to use the Shop Channel, it just restarts my Wii. Can I fix this without updating the official way?

I have been trying to follow this guide as best I can. I have d2ckey installed.

I was able to install the homebrew channel as well as bootmii to boot2. I have also updated to 4.1 with Waninkoko's Firmware Updater. I tryed to install the wad manager but wasn't sure of which IOS. Anything else I need such as the trucha bug.

When I put in Madden 10, it still asks for an update. Not sure for what, but is it safe to do?

I just installed da_letter_a's cIOSCORP v3.3 . Would it be safe for me to also install Preloader?
 
has a way been discovered to load gct codes through bannerbomb without installing anything to the wii?

last i checked a couple weeks ago gecko and such still errored when being used directly from bannerbomb

Smashstack was just released today and is quite fitting as anyone wanting to play brawl+/balanced brawl would already have brawl, so you could try using that to see if geckoOS works with that.

Edit: Just tried it on mine and it seems to load gecko 1.91 with the balanced brawl gct fine so I guess there's your solution. Get the smashstack private folder, put it on your card along with the gct in codes folder and gameconfig.txt on the root along with the boot.elf of geckoOS. Then just load brawl normally, put the SD card in, go to vault, then stage buillder, then geckoOS should load up automatically and you can apply the cheats and bam brawl+/bbrawl.
 
Really noob question. Since I softmodded the Wii so I can have the HBC and play my backups I've wanted to upgrade to 4.1 (I have 3.3u now) Will this BRICK the Wii or just make the HBC and backups stop working? I ask because I know theres new methods now of softmodding and I want to be able to play stuff off the SD.

Run Waninkoko's 4.0 updater, then run his 4.1 updater.

i mean, why do people always think updating or new hacks ruin backup loading and homebrew capability?
 
ok Im helping someone online and I need a lil guidance
1His firmware is 4.1 official
2.he has homebrew
3.he has no ios 249
4. We cant install wads
so my question is
1. how do I get ios 249 a link is helpfull
2. do i need to run ios downgradder?

thx in advance for any thoughts or help

If you haven't already when you installed the HBC, go back to the hackmii installer and see if you can install bootmii to boot2. (If the wii was bought after mid 2008 it likely won't.) After installing it use it to make a NAND backup and then proceed.

Use the Trucha Bug Restorer to downgrade IOS15, run it again USING IOS15 to install IOS36 with the trucha bug and ES_Identify to IOS36, then run it again using IOS36 and restore IOS15.

Then run the cIOS rev14 installer and have it use IOS36 at the first prompt.

Then use Wad Manager 1.4 or 1.5 and have that use IOS249 to install your wad's, but make sure you know what wad's you're installing. Make sure they are confirmed to be legit channels and what not and you should not need to deal with any sort of IOS wads or system menu wad's at all. If you don't have bootmii installed to boot2, you should at least have preloader before trying to install any wad's as banner brick protection.

Make a folder called "Apps" in the root of your sd card.
Make a folder called "MPlayer" and place that inside of the apps folder.
Place the boot.dol for mplayer in the "MPlayer" folder


Alternatively just download this (The most recent Mplayer) and unzip and place the "apps" folder in the root of your sd

If I have Firmware 4.0. If i follow the same steps nabster was asking for will this work also.
I am unable to install WAD's and CIOS. If not what WAD's and CIOS can i run to get this to work. I already have HBC installed but that is about as far as it gets no matter what i try to run.

Yes, just read through my entire guide in my sig, that should clear any confusion you have about anything, and if it doesn't post in the thread to ask about it and I may add to it if necessary.
