use waninkokos 4.1 updater first, install his cIOS38 rev14. then install cioscorp 3.3 (not my thing but if you really want it) then preloader 0.29.
If everything works as it is then you might not want to bother but if you want to upgrade to latest versions then this is the way to go.
Just whatever you do dont try to remove any IOS or brick may well happen. Upgrading over the top is the safest way.

Once this is done, is there any functionality loss? Meaning would everything still work like USB loader, WAD installer etc or will a few things stop?

Updating with waninkokos updater won't block any homebrew (at least it shouldn't)
But you have to install preloader 0.29 before cIOSCorp 3.3!

Looking for a quick answer to this. I haven't touched my Wii in quite a while so I don't know the common errors. Anyway I updated HBC to 1.0.3 from 1.0.1 and ran wad manager 1.5 to install a WiiWare wad. it added the channel just fine but the channel just crashed to the system menu once I click start. It is an NTSC U game on an NTSC U console.

what should I do now?

EDIT: I fixed this by updating to firmware 4.0 using Waninkos updater. Tried updating to 4.1 first but that failed.

I currently have 3.3u with preloader and IOS249 v9 I think

I want to update to 4.1

What is the safest method?
will I lose HBC?
Will I lose the Wad install capability?
If I brick while updatig to 4.1, how do I roll back to 3.3u? I DO NOT have a boot2 capable wii, I only have preloader.
What are the benefits of updating to 4.1

Also, is there any downside to go to IOS249 v13b? besides the wii home lockup

Ok, so I keep getting a "failure to launch" message when I try to load a channel from my sd card. I'm running ios60 with 4.1U firmware. I just hacked my wii two nights ago so I'm really new to this. Also I can't move/save files from the sd card to the wii and vice versa. Can anyone help?

I have a question. I have HBC and wad manager 1.5 installed. Have 4.1U now.

I can install most wads but this takes up my wii memory very fast.

Any ways to make it play from SD card after installing the wads?

Thanks,

Ok I just got my WD Passport Essentials to work on my wii after I found out that the cord that came with it was faulty and decided to backup my brawl dvd5 backup to it so I can finally plus again, but for some odd reason it decided to backup VERY SLOWLY after some time...like 5 minujtes later it started going slow.

Right now it keeps saying that's it gonna be finished in like half a day...it's been about an hour and the "Time left" never decreases it only goes up! and right now it's talking about it has 17:15:24 (keeps going up) hours left before it can fully backup brawl...wtf is going on?!?! why is this taking so long? I know it's not suppose to be this long right? (The reason I can't backup my original brawl dvd 9 disc is because my lens is screwed)

Edit: fixed the problem (I think), turns out my disc was BAD! I mean it kept freezing whenever I tried to play it regardless of cios revision...it actually had deep black marker marks for the label I made with it that were so dark and deep that it went into the backside of the disc and fucked up the lens reading process and gav me the error "Game disc could not be read" balh blah blah *goes and downloads new DVD5 ISO*

Follow my guide in my sig or xzxero's simplistic mod guide in the stickies. Pretty much the only difference is that I just changed mine to just run the 4.0 updater and then the 4.1 updater instead of installing IOS60 and then running the 4.1 updater. They pretty much accomplish the same thing, but I felt using the 4.0 updater instead would be easier to understand conceptually, and I believe Waninkoko's 4.1 updater was MEANT to update from 4.0 anyways since it gives you an error otherwise unless you have IOS60 installed.

You won't lose the HBC, there is a slight possibility that it might stop working due to a change in IOS or something, but in that case you can just run bannerbomb with the hackmii installer and just reinstall it.

As long as you have a cIOS installed beforehand you will still be able to use IOS249 with wad manager 1.4 or 1.5 and install wad's.

Updating to 4.1 will remove preloader., if you DO brick updating you're pretty much screwed I suppose, but that would pretty much only happen if like your power happens to go out right when it's in the process of installing the actual system menu or something. You COULD still use bootmii as an IOS and make a NAND backup with that, and then in the worst case scenario if you do brick, you can have a hardware nand programmer put that backup directly back onto your nand to restore it instead of HAVING to send it to Nintendo.

The benefits of 4.1 over 3.3 are bug fixes, the SD card menu, and having an up to date firmware without losing anything you could previously do.

cIOS rev13b isn't one of the better cIOS revisions nor is it the most recent. cIOS rev 14 is out now so you can update to that instead. The most recent most stable cIOS's at the moment are cIOS rev10, rev13a, and rev14. It's up to you which one you want to use, they all have SOME flaws, just try whatever and see if you don't want to deal with one of it's flaws and would rather deal with another.

You can't launch installed wad's from the SD card menu unless you have the trucha bug in IOS60. To get that, you can run dop-IOS v7 (provided you have a cIOS already installed) and have that install the most recent IOS60 and say yes to patching it with the sig hash check(trucha bug). If you have preloader already, it may cause a system menu is corrupt message, in which case you would have to launch the HBC again and reinstall preloader.

Thanks,

Get the trucha bug on IOS60 as I said above and then you can move any vc/wiiware games you install to the sd card menu by going into data management in the wii settings -> channels and then click on whatever you want to move to the sd card menu and click "move". Then you can load them by clicking the sd card icon in the bottom left of the system menu screen next to the settings icon.

I have a LU65 4.1U Wii I installed HBC by way of BannerBomb and that is all I have installed.
I have the modchip DriverKey for playing backups all I would like to do is install a WAD Manager to install WAD games.

I have tried different WAD Manager versions and I always get the -2011 error. thanks

Since you have a newer Wii, you have to patch the Trucha Bug back into your system. Read through some more of the guide to get TBR and the files you need (if you don't have net connection) and patch 36..

OK I patch the Trucha Bug back into my system, I followed the guide posted on page 1 of (* * * Simplistic mod - A MUST FOR ALL NEWBIES * * * , by xzxero ) I can now use the WAD manager.

For future reference how would I uninstall this to be a virgin Wii again?
I have installed HBC, BannerBomb, Trucha Bug fix.

I think I know how to uninstall HBC and BannerBomb I'd just do it from Hackmii installer right? what about Trucha Bug fix? thanks again

NuBiXx, to uninstall Trucha bug, you have to update your ios'. Ask somebody else to help you with that.

Can someone please help me with this? after I put the Trucha Bug back into my system I have been getting read disk errors where as I wasn't before I just would like my Wii softmod free because I have DriverKey and it does what I need. thanks

Simple enough question. I have an EU Wii running system menu 3.1E. I've got BootMii beta 2, HBC 1.03, DVDx and Waninkoko's cIOS13b installed.

Is there an easy and safe way for me to perform an offline upgrade of my system menu to the latest system menu version that is sure to work without any caveats, hitches or maybes?

first and formost I followed this tutoral down to every letter: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=171901&st=0&start=0
ive search for answer for my problem on both google and this forum to no avail

When i try to run a back up on neogamma v7 i get the 1101 Disc read error
When i try to run a back up on softchip i get an Ioctl error (DI_readID)

I am using DVD-R discs. I burned them using IMG burn at 2x 4x and 6x speeds and they all give me the same error.

what do you mean? Ios 60 is already installed I just want to enable trucha so I can launch vc games of my sd card, BUT dop ios won't work so I don't know what to do

Thanks nabster for the help

So there is no reason NOT updating to 4.1, except some bugfixes. However i find no reason to do so. If i trust my UPS i will do so soon... XD

you need a patched ios60.

Dont get cios60 its from cioscorp and can potentially screw stuff up.

Just goto yafaze.com and download the ios60 trucha patched wad file.

Install it with wad manager and your good to go.

If you have preloader already installed it and you install the patched ios60 wad it will give you the system corrupt message after you install it.

To fix it just reinstall preloader.
