Will Switch 2 finally kill off stick drift for good?

Honestly crazy that we went a whole generation dealing with drift on $70 controller.

You guys think Nintendo will actually use Hall Effect sticks out of the box for Switch 2 or are they just gonna stick with standard potentiometers again to save on production costs?

It's already been out, man. No Hall effect in sight.

Maybe the idea is just that Nintendo feels like third party companies would do it anyway, so why bother increasing the price to match it.. In any case the hall effect is not so cheap, even if you try to buy them yourself from China.

If Nintendo fixed stick drift, you wouldn't buy a new controller, would you?

IFixit says Switch 2 controllers are largely unchanged from the Switch 1 controllers. All of my LOL their grandstanding about how the Switch 2 controllers were "completely redesigned".

It feels like they kept dismissing complaints again, and again, and don't seem to be eager to change anything even after getting fined for it. Perform a repair or get one done when the time comes rather than buying a new set, that's probably all you can do.

All OEMs still use potentiometer-based sticks, which can last a decent amount of time, but to my knowledge, the actual cause of drift was controllers having design flaws. I recall reading that both Joy-Cons and DualSense controllers had better reliability later in production, but all the talks and bad press make the distinction harder to point, so I'm not sure if that tracks.
