Lol, screw converting 700 plus games! I edited my last post as the wiki says they do not work with wii usb loaders.

Info can be found here if anyone wants some bedtime reading!

you might be able to have most of the wii library on a 2TB drive uncompressed, but there is a lot of shovelware on there. I probably have a lot of trash. I was downloading furiously while using usenet. I had an rss feed to download any new wii games it found like every 15 minutes it would check.

It's mainly for storage purpose and the ability to revert to 1:1 iso (gaming-wise who cares as long as wbfs/iso are 100% workable w/o lost of quality?).
Dolphin developers specifically discourage the use of Nkit isos due to loading speed issues. https://dolphin-emu.org/blog/2020/0...port-may-and-june-2020/#about-the-nkit-format

thanks for the clarification. I was wondering what to do with them if backup loaders couldn't play them.

or nintendont (think usb loader gx may need nintendont to function with cube games).

Correct, the NKit format does not work on any of the Wii loaders. Not sure if support will ever be added. You'll need to convert it to an ISO for Wii Backup Manager to convert it to the usual .wbfs format.

I just got into NKit myself within the last 2 weeks. I was missing a few Wii titles and where I got them from they were only available in the NKIt format. I don't like command line programs, but I did figure out a way to use it to get what I needed.

    1 - Download NKit (current version v1.4)
2 - Download the Wii title in NKit format
3 - Drag and drop the Wii title onto the CONVERTTOISO file in the NKit directory (the conversion will start)
----Note that you can drop multiple files onto it as well and it will work through them one at a time until complete.
4 - If NKIt is not setup with the databases for file varification that's ok, it'll still work, mine did.
5 - Once the 4 step conversion process to ISO is completed go to the NKit/Proccessed/Wii_MatchFail directory to find your ISO.
5 - Use Wii Backup Manager on that ISO to make your .wbfs file.

Kind of a pain, but I only had to do a handful.

    — Posts automatically merged - Please don't double post! —

I have about 1800 Wii titles in .wbfs format. Some do not compress much, like the sining and dancing game (gussing it is the music files) and others are so small you can not believe it. Averaged out the size comes in about 1.75GB each. I am in the US, so most of my games are US but I do have quite a few games that are PAL and from other regions, plus all the different version numbers and Mario Kart customs. They take up a little over 3.2 TBs and adding in the GameCube games adds in almost another 1TB. But you can eliminate most of the singing, dancing and versions to squeeze it onto a 4TB hard drive.

To get EVERYTHING onto one drive you'll need a 5TB hard drive. I find the Western Digital drives work the best. See link in my signature if you want to give it a go using just one FAT32 partition.

    Hi All,

Can you help me with the situation I have. Homebrew + usbloader worked on my wii (4.3E) then when i started playing on an original game it started updating. Since then when i click on any games on usbloader, during loading it puts me back to the usbloader screen.
    Any idea what happened?
    Thanks!

U failed to enable the priiloader hack to block updates. The update probably installed a stub/useless IOS to your 249 slot used by most loaders.

Resoftmod using modmii, either use the main wizard and answer the questions as if the console has never been modded before (it's OK to repeat steps or reinstall things u already have), or use Modmii's syscheck updater wizard to only have u perform the incremental changes necessary

Thanks, I'm going to check on this. If it is not working (tried something like this) a factory reset and a new install would solve the issue?

No need to factory reset, just do as I said, resoftmod using modmii as if it was never modded before or use modmii's syscheck updater wizard. If you have issues, let us know. I doubt u will have any issues so long as you carefully follow your custom modmii guide

It works now, thanks for your help. With MMM i could not use the controller, so i checked what is wrong with SysCheckHDE and with the csv the ModMii generated the needed wad files. I installed them with yawmm.

    Finally it works:)

Yes mmm doesn't support wiimote+ remotes, the next modmii update will (mostly) address this. Glad it worked for you!

How do I port certain games to the Wii, 3DS, etc.?

I know this sounds like a stupid question, but I have little knowledge of how porting games work. Let me list some hypothetical examples of what I have in mind:

-Saturn games: Sonic Jam, NiGHTS into Dreams, Rayman (Console), Super Tempo, all three Darkstalkers games --> Port as Wii ISOs
-32X Games: Knuckles Chaotix, Tempo, Kolibri --> Port as Wii ISOs
-PC Games: Sonic Before the Sequel, Mother 4/Oddity, Psycho Waluigi --> Port as Wii ISOs
    -PS2: Klonoa 2:Lunatea's Veil
-PSP: Sonic Rivals, Sonic Rivals 2 --> Port as 3DS games
-Dreamcast: Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Sonic Shuffle, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 --> Port as Wii or Gamecube ISOs
-SegaSonic Arcade --> Port as 3DS game
-Sonic Championship HD --> Port as WiiWare game/WAD

I didn't list Sonic Generations (Console) and Sonic 4: Episode II because it was confirmed that the Wii wasn't powerful enough to run those games.

OK Downloaded. Will try this method soon. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

    ......

Have Tried this. It's a good wizard/guide. However in my case, it is still freeze in the same spot. When installing the hackmii, after the disclaimer, the "press 1 to continue" sign never appear.

Please confirm you successfully installed the wads modmii downloaded (IOS58, 61,etc) before trying the launch the hackmii installer again.

Do you have any peripherals connected to the console? Try unplugging them. I'm not sure it will make a difference, but maybe try disabling wiiconnect24 if you have it turned on

I'm not sure what is the wads modmii, but i followed the instruction correctly, choose my region (mine is v3.2U, so i choose v3.x and region U), update to 4.1 as recommended and choose all the recommended option. downloading files took a while but finished properly. Copied all the Files from the foder "COPY_TO_SD" directly to my SD Card (Without the folder).

as for wiiconnect24, i think i did not turn it on. I did not even put my internet account on my console. Shud i connect to internet?

oh also I am using micro SD card with SD adapter. will this create problem? The micro SD is the old type. not SDHC.

So, listen carefully, run modmii's hackmii solutions wizard, not the main Modmii Wizard. The hackmii solutions wizard will not ask you what firmware you want to update to, so I know for certain you have run the wrong wizard (since you claim to have chosen to update to 4.1). You can proceed again with this wizard later, but for now, stop with that modmii guide, and run modmii's hackmii solutions wizard/guide. Once completed, you can proceed with the standard/main modmii wizard again
