you B/W issue is caused by PAL games running on NTSC wii...you need to change region settings in your loaders..... TBH, i have no experience trying to play out-of-region games on the wii, so i don't know much beyond what i just suggested.

there is no >4GB issue...Wii Backup Manager automatically splits the files if >4GB

....GC games must be played via disc, SDGecko or Wode...the WiiGator you reference is the MIOS needed to launch the games with (which simply can't be done via USB at all)
What do you mean change region settings in my loaders? what loaders? also what does PAL and NTSC stand for?

I was doing this in the hope of getting NTSC-J imports working for the unit (which is PAL), which had stopped working after i made a 4.2->4.3 jump months ago. Symptoms are currently black screen and no Wii Remote connection for these games, checked with all combinations of video modes in the settings just in case. Although i think that the priiloader hack list might at fault, i currently cannot find a separated list of region-free hacks for 4.3.
Can't present a SysCheck log, since BootMii (IOS ver.) interrupts SysCheck, strangely. No thanks to Wiibrew for not having the latest version up. SysCheck log as follows:

The only thing I have activated aside from update blockers is "Region free EVERYTHING", so yes. I know it's done something, since the Disc Channel brings up the banner for the imports, but still black screen and no connection of the Wii Remote. Maybe I should just downgrade to 4.1 then, boot2v4 be damned.

EDIT: 4.1 has what I need, "Force Disc Region". There isn't an equivalent in any of the 4.3 hacks.

n00b here. I wasn't sure if this should be its own thread or dumped in here, so feel free to split this off if it's better as its own thread.

I've got what I think is a semi-bricked Wii that I'm trying to fix, and I'm running out of ideas.

The Symptoms
-Black screen freeze consistently when trying to access System Settings menu.
-Console freezes on startup with a black screen (before BootMii/Priiloader/System Menu) about 1/3rd of the time.
-Console occasionally (1/10 times) freezes when starting legit games from disc.
-Netflix channel is basically useless (freezes 9 times out of 10).

The Backstory
Way back in the day (maybe 2008), I soft modded my Wii in order to be able to use it as a DVD player. I BELIEVE (but am not sure) that I used a Mario Kart hack, and that I installed HBC and DVDX, but not BootMii.

Shortly after, we bought an upconverting DVD player, so I no longer had any use for it and basically forgot about ever doing it. The Wii worked fine for years until recently. I believe (but am not sure) that the problems happened after a system update prompted by a game.

However, I don't believe I've ever done anything with changing regions or anything like that. As I mentioned, all I wanted to do is play DVD's!

What I've Tried
I've gone through both of these guides step by step to try and make sure everything's working OK:

http://gbatemp.net/t171901-modify-any-wii-4-3-below
http://www.wiihacks.com/bricked-wii-issues...pera-error.html

I've successfully got HBC re-installed (after the system updates wiped it out). In addition, BootMii is installed as boot2, and Priiloader is installed and functional. I (presumably based on the guides) have CIOS installed, but don't really know what that does for me. I've manually upgraded and downloaded my System Menu to 4.1, then eventually back up to 4.3 through Multi Mod Manager. I've run DOP-Mii and updated a handful of IOS files that weren't the most recent versions.

None of this has made any difference whatsoever in the problems I've had. They're neither better nor worse than when I started.

Other Info
When I try and run SysCheck, it seems to freeze every time. I've only run it a couple times, but it froze on 33 once and 36 another time (I think). Not sure if that means anything. DOP-Mii's syscheck crashes with an exception immediately after I try and run it.

I've tried running AnyRegion Changer (even though I don't believe a regional issue is the problem), and it crashes with an exception immediately also.

So...
Any ideas? I'm a pretty big computer geek, but haven't done much of this type of stuff. I'm almost wondering if there's a hardware issue going on (given the inconsistency of the black screens). But, if there's anything else I can try, I'd love to hear it.

have you ran the modmii on it? try that. it downloades every thing at one time instead of doing guess work. tell mod mii you have a virgin wii, an run it.

1) Make sure you have a nand backup before doing anything else. Since u have bootmii @ boot2, u will be able to revert to your current state if you accidentally make the problem worse when trying to fix it

2) Download ModMii, run the ModMii Wizard, tell it your Wii is a virgin and you want to download\update all active IOSs, then follow the guide. When you complete the guide your Wii will have all the most up to date recommended softmods in place and if its a software issue your problems should disappear. If the problems persist, then we can begin speculating that there's a hardware issue.

FYI, the virgin 4.3 ModMii guide will tell u u need a game exploit to mod your Wii, since u might not have any of the required games just pick whatever, and when u get to that part of the guide, it will tell u if u already have the HBC installed (which u do) u can run the hackmii installer from the HBC that u currently have installed instead of using a game exploit.

I move my files from my SD card root to the usb loader root and now i can run everything without an SD card.

Problem is that when i go in the HBC and run MMM to install WAD, when i select USB as the source it keeps giving me an error message that it cant mount it.

My WADs files are in the WAD folder at the root of my external HDD. Is this normal? I know WADs have to be installed on the system memory (Sadly :/ ) But i though they could be installed from eithe SD or USB.... What am I doing wrong as everything else seems to be working with only my external HDD (BTw its all FAT32).

Thx again for ur times guys, ive been abusing this thread alot

Make sure there is a WAD folder on the root of your USB hard drive. Alternatively you can edit the startup path in mmmconfig. You can use ModMii to easily build you a mmmconfig file if u can't easily figure it out by yourself.

Lastly, try reloading a cIOS before launching mmm's wad manager. Common selections are 236/249/250/etc.

Well, unfortunately, that didn't seem to help. After going through the full ModMii guide, I was excited at first as I was able to access the Settings menu. However, it may have just been a fluke. I tried the Netflix Channel right afterward, which froze. After rebooting, the settings menu black screened again, and it hasn't come up since.

It's also intermittently freezing on some of the utilities included by ModMii. MMM is freezing about half the time, and even the Priiloader installer froze the first time.

Basically, it's freezing all over the place.

Any other ideas?

Another n00b here.
I got my Wii a real long time ago, (I can't even remember -_-) and didn't want to pay for all the games so I softmodded it.
It's a 4.2E Wii with an (I think ancient) version of HBC and I'm using Neogamma to launch games.

Problem:
I want to play Monster Hunter Tri but I get the annoying beep everyone knows.
I know this was fixed some time ago, but I don't know what software to trust, I tried to fix it then, but I gave up, as it wouldn't work...
I'm using Neogamma R8 B7 (Rev 14) (also pretty ancient...)
And I als don't know how to update Neogamma (yup, I'm a n00b...)

I would really appreciate some help.
Regards,
fccoole

Really? You want help and you open with that? pshhh

I could help u, but instead, I think u should be forced to go out and buy the game. I'm sure others will help u anyway... but common man, don't u want to support the ppl making the games u want to play so badly.
