Are there any modern games that require the player to note stuff down?

Are there any games that encourage or even expect the player to jot down information? I used to do this for so many games when I was younger and I kind of miss it.

Most modern games literally point people the direction they need to go and then have some other character never shut the fuck up.

I don't know about newer games, but I've heard the Silent Hill games benefit from doing this. Have you tried playing them?

Blue Prince does.

It was useful when I played the Rootrees are dead.

Basically indie games specifically indie game with some sort of mystery.

Ugh... I've played a myst-like game that did that. Decent puzzles by the looks of it, but not my cup of tea... And I completely forgot the name (sorry).

But I got an even better one for you:

Return of the obra dinn.

It's a masterpiece. And deduction is the entire game, so get that notebook ready

Plus they will have insane visual clutter, like markers, etc. on map an on an overlay...it gets disgusting.

Idk if Fez counts as modern. I gather Animal Well has that kind of vibe as well, tho I haven't played it yet.

I finished that one without problems. Sure, it's a metroidvania, but you have a map and it's not that confusing.

I've not played much, but can confirm that Chants of Sennaar definately fits (heck...it's about learning a language).

I now see that my previous entry used auto-correct to change "myst" to must.

So just to be clear: this series is notorious for this (also the reason I don't play them). I hear obduction was very good, but though it's in my library, I've not played it.
