Hacking [Noob] Just found an old r4

Hello!
I found this old r4 and i wanted to test it out so i tried to run it on my Dsi Xl and it gives me "An error has occured, press and hold the Power button etc etc."
I tried updating the card but the problem is that i can't find the update that's right. The card has R4 written on it in caps, it then says 3ds upgrade SDHC RTS LITE and the site is r4isdhc. com and it also has a silver background. I went to the site and downloaded the latest kernel but the error is still happeningg, so i tried with r4i-sdhc. com and many other sites for different cards but i had no luck this far, what am i doing wrong?

I don't think that there is a firmware update to support the latest DSi version for that card.

i know you described it but if you could post a pic of the r4 to imgur and link it here you may be able to get more accurate help

the rts lite cards usually have a year at the upper right. if it's 2013 or earlier you are SOL.

http://www.r4isdhc.com/r4i-gold-3ds-2013/ is only earlier card that's still supported by them.

best thing you can possibly do is try to flash it into an ntr boot card at this point, and no guarantee even for that.
