128GB would be bare minimum, on principle I don't recommend under 512gb. Maybe you're cool with constantly moving stuff around, doesn't work for me.

It's started taking a really long time to install games—does anyone know what the problem might be?
It takes about 40 minutes to install a 15 GB game on DBI.
 
I am new to the switch modding community, I have a patched v1 picofly running Hats. Are there any discord groups I could join to keep learning the hobby?

Sometimes you need to upgrade your console, upgrade the firmware or upgrade Atmosphère, using the @l7777 's guide (https://gbatemp.net/threads/updating-hekate-atmosphere-and-hos.631739/) as base I hope to create a list of necessary steps to successful upgrade your console.

This guide uses Hekate, if you don't want to use Hekate skip the steps about it. You may loose some features.

it's simple
update cfw files so cfw works when you update
backup your files in case something goes south
download desire fw file update
update emunand with daybreak
update sysnand if you want
read and make sure you dont have any conflicting configuration like blank prodinfo

Not sure if this the right place to post this but I am trying to run The Last Remnant on Ryujinx. I am trying to use the Undub patch but nothing is working. The voices remain in English. Does anyone know what I can do?
 
Just got myself a Switch, with FW 22.5.0 installed and I have separate sys and emunands. It seems to be possible to downgrade the emunand to earlier HOS version, but are there expected or unexpacted pitfalls if I want to revert to 19-ish?

Also, if I do revert, are the already installed tings kept, or do I need to reinstall everything from scratch?

Aaaaand to answer myself - the information was spread thin on the internets, but using old tuts etc. I did the following:
  • Installed 19.0.1 to the EmuMMC using Daybreak and in my case using the FAT32 only option and doing a clean slate install.
  • After the installation, before first boot into HOS I used the downgrade fixer tool (better be safe than sorry I guess).
  • On the first boot into HOS, I deleted the "user content" from SD - losing my saves and installed stuff. No biggie, reinstall won't take long and I had JKSV available just in case anyways.
Pros:
  • Lighter HOS (I personally don't need the more recent FW's for either S2 or game compatibility).
  • No need to either live with game update nags baked in the system or go through several hoops in order to remove them.
  • No user experience enhancements!
Cons:
  • Doing the downgrade loses all installed content, so better have backups (and JKSV) handy.
Apparently from now on, I can keep the Emu and SYS at separate versions, but have to track SYS version with Atmos, Hekate etc. Suits me, but probably not everyones cup of tea.

Got a few games that fail to start. I get a black screen with an exclamation mark in a square box and underneath that the text:
Could not start the software.
Please try again from the HOME Menu.

In this case it's The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure that do so for me. I updated them to the latest versions, which should require firmware 22.5.0. My Switch runs firmware 22.5.0 along with the corresponding Atmosphere version, sigpatches, etc. As far as I can tell, the files are not corrupt at all; NxFileViewer reports their state is original.

Why does this error show up? And how can I fix it? Not just for these games, but in general if this shows up for any game.

So I decided starting on the Switch, but I have a couple of important questions.
The guide tells you that you have to be a primary Pass Enabled console. However, the console has 8 profiles that are used for Animal Crossing. 2 profiles are linked to a Nintendo account. 1 account belongs to me, but since I use my OLED and Switch 2 as primary, I'm not feeling like enabling this old Switch as primary... The other account is only linked to this Switch, is it still possible to hack it in the EmuMMC?

The other question is, since 23.0.0 is not supported, I don't want to connect to the internet, but I need to disable the cloud saves on this old Switch, since my account has online. What to do?

I've never seen that as a requirement. I have a modded Switch that I've set up emuNAND on and all the accounts I have there have fake IDs added by linkalho. Not sure what you're trying to accomplish here. :D

Most likely a clone of the original one if you've acquired it recently but it still can be useful as it sends the hekate payload that first checks if there's a update.bin on your SD card which it'll load if newer instead of the one onboard.

Is it ok if the other account just can be used? Since that other account is linked to that Switch and no other Switch is using that account. Will it still try to connect to Nintendo then? And yes, it's the Switch guide website I try to follow yes.

There's 1 Nintendo account as the only Switch, so I hope I don't need to do anything.
So account setup on this old Switch I'm trying to mod is as follows from left to right before starting apps/games:

Account 1: My own account, linked to 3 Switches, Pass enabled on Switch 2.
Account 2: My brother that used the account on the old Switch, the only Switch that has been linked too.
6 other profiles without Nintendo accounts. They're for Animal Crossing to build extra houses.

So account 2 has probably the Pass Enabled console? So is it pass enabled so I can continue the guide, otherwise I'm doomed.

From the guide:
"If you choose the emuMMC path introduced later in the guide, you will also need a microSD card that is at least 128 gigabytes. In this path, it'll be important to disable the Automatic Save Data Cloud function beforehand, as well as making sure the Switch is set as the primary Pass-Enabled console."

^So there's that, unfortunately.

Edit - seems I have to wait for 23.0.0 support since formatting the SD card requires a system update...

The SD card or any SD card I have have never been used with a Switch. So that's why I get an error displayed the card can't be used.

Oh well.

But wait, I've been thinking since it's a little weird to update for just an SD card to be used with the Switch. Would be no problem if Atmos supported 23.0.0. Is there really no way to get around this? What I mean is when I insert the SD card, it says I need to update...

Really not to be that guy, but otherwise I want a confirmation that I otherwise have to wait for it for 23.0.0 support to hack the Switch, it's constantly popping up in my head it should be possible in another way...

The Switch is on 22.1.0.

I'm not sure why's that a requirement nowadays, to be honest. For Automatic Save Data Cloud function you need to have the active NSO which I didn't have when I modded my Switch. Primary Pass-Enabled console requirement is totally new to me. In their FAQ it says:

Since NH Switch guide doesn't link to sys-patch or sigpatches (at least, not anymore), I believe that either one of these two fixes that issue. If I recall correctly, if your console is not a primary one, it'll always check whether the app can be used first. Otherwise, if it is primary it'll just boot into game without checking. That should be the official behavior and that should be patched with sys-patch, but I can't say for sure as I'm not really familiar with all the technical stuff.

That's probably one of the recent firmware update changes, similar to the Switch 2. I had to update my Switch 2 in order to activate the microSD card slot.

In order to send hekate payload, you don't need to have SD card inserted for the first time as stated here: https://switch.hacks.guide/user_guide/rcm/sending_payload
However, your SD card probably won't work in OFW, though. Can't really test that out on my end without updating my OFW to the lastest firmware. Still, you should be able to use emuNAND.

It could be that as well. I've been using FAT32 only from the beginning as exFAT was apparently unstable at that time.
