Hi all,

I've never repaired a Switch before, but I wanted to try my hand, or at least get some diagnosis, on whether the Switch is repairable or not.
I watched TronicsFix videos and was hoping it would be a simple M92T36 or PI3USB replacement, which you'd figure out by having some caps shorting near those chips.
Please feel free to tell me to perform more diagnostics, and I'll report back here.

Console info :
  • Switch FW ver 6.2
  • No third party dock/charger used
  • Serial number XAJ 4004070XXXX
Checks from the outside :
  • Doesn't turn on. No display when plugged in.
  • Charges at 0.3A - 0.4A
  • Holding power button for 10 secs : drops to 0.11A then goes back to 0.4A after a few seconds
Checks after accessing the interior :
  • No liquid damage
  • Charges at 0.11A with battery off
  • Multitester check : no capacitor shorting around M92T36, PI3USB, or BQ24193
  • Coil ok (continuity OK)
  • Fuse ok (continuity OK)
  • Backlight near LED ribbon not on, even when USB-C power source plugged in.
Any ideas? Is it fixable?

And again, feel free to tell me to perform more diagnostics, and I'll report back here.
I have no spare parts, but I can get them in for diagnostics if you guys think that'll help.

Hoping for something good to come out of this!
Thanks all!

Hi! I suppose this is your Switch. (and from Photos I could se your Right Joycon Rail is Jumped for RCM)
  • Remove Battery Cable
  • Connect Cable Power Supply
    • Check Battery Plug Pins (have you 5V for each of both Pin)
      • If Not USB Port Broken or BQ24193
  • Reinsert Battery Cable (disconnect Charger)
  • Just press Power button
    • Check Voltage on 3° Pin LCD Power Connector (3.5V)
    • Check Voltage on Battery
    • Check Voltage on Coil On the Left Side of M92T36 (3,5V if Power button was pressed, 0V if Power Button is not pressed)
    • Check Voltage on Right Bottom Coil near BQ24193 (from 3,5V to ???)
  • Connect you Switch to PC (Remove MicroSD)
  • Download and Install TegraRCM and Hekate 5.1.3 (site SDSETUP is easyer)
  • Install TegraRCM
  • Install Driver (3 tabs from TegraRCM)
  • Reboot PC
  • Return to TegraRCM
    • Should say RCM Device Detected
  • Inject Hekate 5.1.3
    • If works it will say 0x70000 and your Switch will Power Up
    • Otherwise 0x00000
      • Remove PC Cable
      • Disconnect Battery and Reconnect
      • Remove Nand (Upper Left) and retry to Inject Payload
        • 0x00000 (some error....I was unable to find the solution yet, maybe M92T36?)
        • 0x70000 your Switch should turn on (some Nand defect?)
And of course
  • Disconnect both Joycon
  • Remove Battery
  • Replace Battery
  • Press Power
  • Wait a minute
  • Tap a couple of times on Screen
    • Did you ear sound? LCD Broken
    • No, Broken touch?
  • Connect both Joycon
    • Does them power up? (led on interiori side) LCD Broken
  • Try Volume Up and Down
    • Did you ear sound? LCD Broken

Thanks for replying!

Wait, right joycon rail is jumped for RCM? Not as far as I know. I use a plastic jig when I power on the switch from completely powering it off. Can you show what makes you think that? (I could be wrong).
In any case, I guess I can perform your diagnostic steps using my jig to boot into RCM?
