i don't think that they'll release a new sm version with motion+. it's more likely in my eyes that they release a bunch of new ioses with the m+ stuff integrated. older games can't make use of m+, so it's not necessary to update older ioses.

lol this is becoming a wii wish list thread... Come to reality people, DVD and CD playback, streaming online media, ....

Perhaps making the Wii capable of launching channels from SD (instead of this fake stuff it has now)
At some point they'll admit defeat and stop trying to block HB, but possibly a few more patches to stop it this next time, I think.

Multimedia Channel would be nice to have.. Could include DVD and CD playback aswell as streaming online media.
Maybe some Nintendo shows could be streamed directly from the channel, but ability to add your own streams trough settings.

Maybe more useful stuff like a Chat Channel, or "Wii Home" which I heard rumors about almost 2 years ago.. I believe something like that now exists for PS3 owners

Getting unsigned code to run on 4.0 is currently impossible with no homebrew channel. So they have put a stop to putting homebrew on more wii's, BannerBomb is a solution, but not released yet and who knows when it will be >.>

The Wii can already run channels (Games, wiiware, ect.) off the SD. Works perfectly and isn't "fake".

It IS fake as in 'we copy it over to the nand and delete it afterwards', thus reducing the lifetime of the nand which has (like almost every writeable memory) a limited amount of write-cycles.

As far as features go, I'd like to see more compatibility with the SD card. Loading the data upon system boot and keeping it cached as long as the card is in the Wii, so that loading externally saved channels from SD goes much faster. I'd also like to see native gamesave support straight from the SD, so that my backed up game saves are loaded from SD rather than having to copy them back to the NAND anytime I want to load a game.

Also, an increase to both Sysmenu and SD card channel page counts. 4 pages for the SysMenu, 48 slots total, seems kind of meager compared to the 240 slots the SD cards allow for.

Ha I wish. Would be more likely that Nintendo would admit that all the piracy plauging the wii is there fault for taking the easy way out when releasing the system.

I'm not no Wii specialist but... IT HAS TO COPY IT TO THE NAND. So it can unpack it and run it, temporary. Even if you have 0 blocks on your wii it will still copy that temporary memory and you can play your game. Lifetime of the nand? I'm not for sure of this, but i've had my wii since launch, when is the nand gona die? XD

That would be somewhat interesting if nintendo released their source, has any console done this?

Off Topic:
Hells Guardian, you know a good place i can buy a USB Gecko?

NAND = flash.
Before you write to flash, if there's data already there, it has to be erased.
To erase it, a charge pump is used to build up electricity to about 10V.
The current erases the bits of flash and also degrades it at the same time.
Due to the degrading, eventually the flash will become unusable (or read-only with SSDs, maybe with regular flash too)

your going to get charged 100$ or more to repair a wii with "legal open sourced code" EVEN IF IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PIRACY! nintendo will be charging an additional fee if ANY UNOFFICIAL CODE IS FOUND! (debatabley illegal when considering the code is NOT illegal (regardless of its functionality we have rights!) and no MONEY is involved on the end users part legaly speaking thats more important than the fact the code is freely distributed open source under GPL and if nintendo charges MONEY to CHANGE/REMOVE this code....)

Then if we are lucky someone with a good lawyer will point out that NO ILLEGAL INSTALLS HAVE OCCURRED and yet ninty has charged a DIFFERENT FEE for maintaining homebrew wii's

its discrimination! people! and someone should stand up for themselves if they encounter this by at the very least telling a manager or higher up rep at nintendo WHY OPEN SOURCE CODE IS PERFECTLY LEGAL and that if i purchase the HARDWARE i can use whatever software i choose! ninty cant go back on the WARRANTY IF ITS STILL VALID just because i used homebrew software EVEN IF said software broke the console I STILL PAYED FOR THAT WARRANTY AND SO LONG AS THE CONSOLE HAS NOT BEEN OPENED PHYSICALLY THERE GOING TO HONOR IT!

Um no, all that fine print you chose not to read says your warranty will be void if you try to install homebrew (in fancier words of course)

Just because its legal doesn't mean they have to fix it for you when you mess up.

You can charge for fixing an error caused by software under the GPL, if not it would be illegal to charge for a computer repair that was formatted.

ALSO

If you want to claim that they are breaking copyright laws, you broke the law by giving them your wii with GNU software without informing them where to obtain the source.

They can charge what ever they want to repair your wii once its no longer under warranty. If they wanted too they could charge you an extra $40 if you have an LCD tv if they wanted too.

I think we'll be seeing the "Funny Cat Pictures Channel", to go along with Nintendo's current theme of useless channels. Additionally, I think the next update will turn the wii into an NES on detection of homebrew.

The USB gecko website has a few good links.
http://www.usbgecko.com/order.htm

The site I bought from is out of stock but this site appears to have them in stock.

http://foundmy.com/oscom/product_info.php?...products_id=258

I would advise this one. I've bought chips from here before with great customer service.

Stop right there. Foundmy.com is a complete and utter scam. I ordered a wiikey from them. I had to file a dispute with my credit card agency. Just go on resellerratings and you will see hundreds of storys just like mine. Steer clear.

How many games read and write 250+ block savegames?

and you DO realize most game saves take maybe 1 or 2 blocks.

what you said is like saying that spending a dollar is the same as spending 250 dollars.
