So the gamecube components are inside the Wii U also?
Yes and no. There aren't any components from the GC, but since the Wii U has hardware that is backwards compatible with the Wii (which was backwards compatible with the GC), it is automatically backwards compatible with GC games. The Wii U processor is pretty much a faster version of the GC processor with 2 extra cores.

From a good source:

Nintendont shadows and redirects calls to the disc drive, the games run on their own.
With some tweaks and patches here and there to get the controls, mcemu etc. right.

Maybe that will give you an idea how to call it, but yeah, basically a loader is the best way to discribe it.
"Compatibility layer" would be a more correct term, it's similar to how WINE let's you run Windows programs on Linux distros and Macs

Gotcha.

There's a link in the first post on how to make them. If you have a question after you read it then you can post it here and someone will answer it.

Thats what I meant. It would be kind of stupid to have a disk based addon for a disk based system.

And I meant it had the components to play gamecube games, Not the gamecube itself. We know its possible because of the near perfect compatibility it has with Devolution (and Nintendont in the future we hope)
Thanks but i dont understand the readme

Readme:

(This version supports loading the controller layout from the sd:/controller.ini file.
Two examples are included.

Most entries should be obvious.

All values are in hex, do not use the 0x prefix.

Polltype: Use 1 (so far only the ps3 controller needed 0)

DPAD: Certain Pads use BITs for each dpad direction other use numbers going form 0 to 7 for each direction.
An easy test for this is if one direction doesn't change any bits then use 1 and fill in all 8 values for the DPAD otherwise use 0
and just fill in the four values.

The rest uses [Button]=[offset],[mask] offset starts at 0.)

When i press a button the values change but what part of the value i put on the controller.ini?

theres a link to another thread on the first post that gives much better instructions then the readme

So currently everyone can only run games from the drive that Nintendont was launched from, right?

Hah, then is it my error. Im trying to launch the nintendont by sd with homebrewchannel. while i should try launch the nintendont of my hdd from my wiiexplorer. This type of information should be in the first post.
Edit: not... still forever load at checking FS... point.

ppl using hdds check the usb port, i was also getting infinite checking FS until i plugged the hdd on the top back port of the wiiu any other it wont work this should also be on the reade me imo.

Nintendont is not an emulator.[
Melee is too unstable to be marked as "works". I have tested it myself
I mean about fixing some games from loader; an example it's Luigi's Mansion that was unplayable; now it's fully playable with some... very minor issues who doesn't care (i think). I'll see the compatibility list.

Regards

i think you need to plug the data one on the topback port of the wiiu and the other one on the front or on another device to get power, since you need the lower back usb port for the controller.

You need an extension for a USB cable; the power end needs to go in the front USB port, the actual data end goes in the top back port.

Edit: Ninja'd

but yes you didnt think you can plug the other part to the ps3 for instance , sure both the ps3 and the wiiu will be on but its doable right?
