For anyone interested, I've now updated my custom build of Nintendont with the new Exit/Reset button combos.

Exit is now L, R, Start
Reset
is now A, Y, Start

This makes much more sense for games such as SSX Tricky, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3/4, Soul Calibur II, and any other game which might have you pressing R, Z, B and D-Pad Down at the same time.

You can find the build here. I'll aim to keep it up to date as much as possible.

------------------------------

N.B. Please note that the devs expressly chose not to merge the above fix when I sent it to them as a pull request on GitHub. They said that the fix is "incompatible" (but didn't explain why). I have been running my latest build on Aroma for about a week now with no issues, and have tested a handful of games all of which have worked. Ideally, the devs will take the request on board and create a stable version with a similar fix (or ideally a way to specify your own button combos).

But for now, if the issue is bothering you, the alternative build should work. The button combo is the only thing that's been changed, everything else is identical to the original. Just bear in mind that there may be a reason why the devs rejected the fix, so - use with caution, and back up your stuff first just in case.

Hey there, thank you very much for your contribution.

If possible, could you adjust the home button reset so that the home button has to be held for a few seconds? I too have accidently reset my game by pressing home unintentionally.

I've done that more times that I want to admit.

First there are no active nintendont devs for years, i just manage the page but im not a developer.

Second the pull request is incompatible because github says so not me or any of those devs you seem to talk too, it cannot be merged.

Third people have been using those exit combos for more than 10 years just changing them like that will make lots of people that dont read patch notes to complain they cant exit nintendont for years to come, this are the types of changes people should do for their own versions since it will affect everyone that ever used the same way to exit and never had any issues with those combos bar 2 or 3 ppl.

First the dev I'm referring to responded to my pull request back in June 2024:

Second the screenshot that you posted is from many months after I first posted the pull request, when upstream changes had been made and I hadn't yet merged them. And, also from after the dev (eku) had replied to say that the changes were incompatible. So, it's got nothing to do with the unresolved merges, the devs seem to think the change itself is incompatible, but haven't explained why.

Third of course, it's important to look after current users, which is why I'm suggesting that the change be made optional. My PR is really there so that the devs can test the change, see if it's workable, and then implement it as an option.

I agree with you that it should be up to the user to set their own combo. If I get enough time at some point in the future I might have a look at this myself (i.e. making it user-customisable). Maybe.

If possible, could you adjust the home button reset so that the home button has to be held for a few seconds? I too have accidently reset my game by pressing home unintentionally.

In the version I've already posted, holding the Start button (on the GC controller) exits the vWii and returns to the Wii U menu. Holding Y and A and then tapping (not holding) the Start button resets the current game. Tapping Start by itself just does whatever tapping Start normally does (pause the game, start the game, etc).

So, I think that's the behaviour you're after (i.e. it's no longer possible to accidentally reset, I've made sure of that!). Did you mean something else?

Thanks for your reply.

When using a classic controller (pro or regular) with nintendont, pressing the home button will reset the game/console. I was hoping to have it adjusted where holding the home button would do that, instead of a single press.

first that isnt a dev... its a random person anyone can respond to any pull request in the comments, they cant merge them but they can comment, heck if you want you can make a comment on any pull request just try it.

Second i took that screenshot the momet i posted the reply... github says that even now.

First OK I didn't know that, thanks for letting me know ^_^

Second I know that the content of your screenshots is what's currently displayed in GitHub, that's exactly my point: the comment saying "this PR is incompatible" happened many months before the "merge conflicts" stuff that you screenshotted. My point is that the supposed incompatibility has nothing to do with the merge conflicts. I'm aware of the conflicts (and have in fact manually resolved them, which admittedly doesn't help the PR but does mean I can get an updated build of my modded copy of Nintendont), and will hopefully get around to updating the PR in due course.

Why does Metroid Prime 2 not boot (black screen) when loaded with cheats, but run perfectly fine without them?
Has this happened to anyone else?
It's the only game that experiences this.

Either you are using too many cheats at once or the cheats are incompatible with Nintendont. The fact that the game runs as it should without the cheats means the issue is with your cheats and not Nintendont.

I'm just using a cheat (infinite life) and it's a Wiird gecko format that Nintendont supports. Also I tried it on Dolphin and it works perfectly but not on hardware so I don't know what reason it will be.

Dolphin is an emulator, Nintendont isn't. Just because something works in Dolphin doesn't mean it will work in Nintendont.

basically nintendont runs gc games in wii mode, so some memory addresses are not where they were on the gc mode due to how the wii mode works, so if the cheat targets those addresses and its actually something else running there it breaks nintendont, so yeah not all cheats work on nintendont its a hit and miss.

I thought so. So would the Force Native option cause Nintendont to run in GC mode or would it remain the same?
