The wait is over, when it comes to new NES and SNES titles, for those that pay for Nintendo Switch Online. Nintendo will be bringing more retro games to its service, after previously adding a collection of Super Nintendo games back in September. These new additions include four SNES games, and two NES, which are listed below.

    • Star Fox 2
    • Super Punch Out!
    • Kirby Super Star
    • Breath of Fire II
    • Crystalis
    • Journey to Silius
The most notable addition in this lineup is Star Fox 2, which was previously exclusive to the SNES Classic. All six of these games will be made available for the Nintendo Switch on December 12th.

Good thing I didn't buy a snes classic for star fox 2. Also why is Crystalis there? It's like already on the SNK 40 anniversary collection (Even though is not an arcade game) :ninja:

Four? I hope it stays that way!

I'll likely be playing Kirby Super Star, I'm surprised the golf one or whatever it is got in first.

It's cool Star Fox 2 is being let go from the SNES Classic exclusivity, but these drip fed titles are still kind of disappointing. Kirby Super Star and Super Punch-Out!! are titles I'd expect to already be on there, and only getting four new SNES titles after not getting any since they originally dropped back in September is pretty lame. Somehow the Wii is still the best Nintendo was ever able to do in terms of offering its back catalog digitally.

OMG! Four SNES and two NES games!? This is awesome!

Said no one with a hacked Switch ever.

Is it just me, or has a lot of the stuff in regards to hacking the Switch kind of slowed down? We got a tease for the Saturn, and I know work is still being done on Flycast, but nothing super big yet. Marvel 2 still doesn't work on HorizonArch last I checked...

The whole trilogy, in English, can be played on your hacked Switch right now...if you have a second Switch. If anything, if any of you guys had a slim PS4 like yours truly did (you could trade in more than just your slim PS4, of course), there was a promotion for getting either a Switch Lite or the Mariko Switch a few months ago when the Lite came out. A slim PS4 took off like $200 which, when I added in some other stuff I wanted to trade in, all came out to about $75 for the Mariko Switch that I'm using as my clean Switch!

I seriously wonder if there is anyone who gets excited by these free titles.

Anyone old enough to remember them likely knows how to boot a game on an emulator.

Anyone young enough to not know what these games are likely doesn't care to play them.

I would love to see some statistics on what percentage of people play any of these titles for more than 5 minutes.

Use banned Switch for hacking purpose.

Use Atmos to export/import saves are usually safe and I don't get a ban for doing this.

SNK 40 anniversary is $40 last i checked. It comes with a collection of Early arcade games by SNK like Athena, Psycho Soldier, Ikari Warriors, Street smarts, etc. (These were games before they made the Neo Geo AVS/MVS console) Crystalis is included in there, despite not being an arcade game, is emulating the nes system.

My point was that it seem odd to include this on the nes classics online. The idea seem like they wouldn't since many publishers have just made their own collections to sell like castlevania, contra, mega man, namco and sega collections. The games that would make sense to include is anything not in those compilations, like mighty final fight, final fight 2 & 3, Dracula X castlevania, Mega man & Bass, etc.

Especially with the shitty generic borders and the lack of an ability to stretch the game to fill up the screen which I know isn't how you're "supposed" to play them, but unless if the borders are themed to the game themselves, I'd rather have the screen be used up as opposed to having something boringly generic or unfitting. For example, I love the borders on Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R because it fits with the aesthetic of the game. (BTW, I seriously hope Strive doesn't end up killing the series)

You have no one to blame but yourself on that one... @JeepX87 actually has good advice. That's literally what I do!

Sure but some in game ban are tied to Nintendo account, addition to console ban, such as Super Smash Bros Ultimate so it means I have to create a new account for SSBU only.

I only have in game ban for one game that used account and console ban.

Yeah, but if I do any online shit (which is very rare considering all of the games I plan on playing are primarily singleplayer), it's not gonna be on my hacked Switch unless if, by some miracle, RetroArch's multiplayer functionality gets improved suddenly. Even then, that's not using Nintendo's servers, and there's no traces of my main Nintendo account being connected in anything done on my hacked Switch.

I think the SNK collection would only sell to SNK fans, this would sell to people who only want that specific game, and perhaps theyve done their research and they know which games sell the collection, and which dont.

Gee, took them long enough to get more SNES games, and good ones at that. Breath of Fire 2 is good, but translation is bad x3

Well I can admit that they do. But honestly the SNK games that SNK fans want are already on the nintendo eshop. The ones feature on MVS/AES systems. Metal slug, king of fighters, shock troopers. Those games are what real SNK fans want. The ones included in the 40 anniversary collection are more of "Hey, don't forget to try out our earlier games." These were the games that was hardly fun to play in the arcade, and when ported to nes, just felt too broken. Athena on nes is literally broken, Ikari warriors just doesn't work without the Knob the arcade system uses.

Back on track, honestly crystalis is an interesting game and only exist on nes. Honestly I would be more interested in a modern remake. (Can say the same for most nes rpg) but it just seem a bit shocking nintendo didn't bother including their own RPG games on there. Both nes and snes earthbound seem like no brainer for rpg instead of breath of fire. Is just mystery why not just go with the logical decision to have already included everything you have to offer from the start. More like sega collection which has over 50 games from the genesis alone. (Regardless of your opinions of the game) It just made more sense.

I'm looking forward to breath of fire 2. breath of fire is the game I've played the most of the snes games. I just wish you could use more four characters for a name.

Man, just do what I did. Get a FlyDigi Wee 2 controller. I'm serious. I have my phone on me at all times anyways, and this controller allows you to attach a proper controller to the sides of your phone just like a Switch (because fuck touch controls) through pressure, so it feels natural. I can play absolutely any game I want, from as old as I want, to as new as the Gamecube (if you have a new enough phone to handle the Dolphin emulator).
