Is there a reliable way to test if a switch console is banned? Testing it sounds dangerous.

It got me thinking: If the youtube app doesn't work on banned Switchs, but work on unbanned ones using 90dns. Could it be a reliable way to test it? And it is possible that there is any danger on doing so?
well if you boot into ofw without any nsps installed, you could open eshop. as long as you dont have any nsps installed, and you arent in cfw, you should be able to find out if youre banned that way

I'm on a phone so it's hard to type all of this, but wanted to say my situation is the exact same as Ch0pst1x except I send payload with my android phone. Everything else is identical. Not banned, never used nsp or homebrew. Update xci games in official os, except for once I left wifi on while in sx os and it connected and updated a game or 2. Got lucky there I guess.

I have a question about this banning frenzy, if I get my own cartridge and play WITH a cartridge using a CFW online, is 100% confirmed that I will get a ban?

There's no such thing as 100% confirmation you will get a ban. After several months of collecting data, I'm 99% sure bans are random; just using CFW puts you at risk for a ban. If you don't want to get banned, don't hack the console/use CFW.

Anyway, the answer to your question is you may get a ban but nothing is set in stone.

So after 138 pages of report and discussion, you weren't able to identify some common denominator for the bans other the CFW?

Is not some kind of rant, people like you who do this test are a blessing for this community, thanks for doing what you do.

Not exactly. There are specific actions that I know have caused a ban alone and others that have not.

Confirmed:
  • LayeredFS
  • .XCI
  • .NSP
  • Homebrew (particularly save managers)
  • Clearing error logs
Unconfirmed:
  • AutoRCM
  • Atmosphere (without save manager, LayeredFS, or .XCI/.NSP)
  • Offline exFAT without ChoiDujourNX

This actions apply even if you restore a clean NAND backup before booting OFW?

its just getting another system is like $500 and a new motherboard is like $12
Yes. But like getting a new system, it isn't "unbanning" your current system by definition, but rather replacing the mainboard, as a thus the unique console cert. It also will entail reinstalling everything because nand and SD are tied to the mainboard iirc

but what about linking your nintendo account to the new switch/motherboard? Won't it just give you the games you got from the eshop?

So, just updated to 6.1. No ban (only used SXOS and XCI offline), gonna do a NAND backup.

Anything to know? Think im gonna play some XCI offline from here to December (smash) and then restore this backup, so it looks like its clean. Is that still the way to go? Any news about bans?
