Would you recommend removing the SD before booting OFW?

It depends and it is up to you.

For me, I would recommend to do that, but others said not need.

It is likely safe until next firmware update and if Nintendo add scanner to SD so we will know based on unusual, surprise bans.

I mean... you could use emunand with SX OS? But which ever you use for cfw (probably emunand) would need to remain offline...

Use atmosphere, stay offline while using the mod, and you should be fine
It's possible left Homebrew Launcher installed in menu, then boot CFW atmosphere from there?
Of course enabling air-plane mode when launching Homebrew Launcher.
Is there still risk of ban?
Does HBL left footprints that are reported then when you go online under normal use?

Nintendo gets logs of crashes and such... They will most likely know that you have booted homebrew from day one. Not sure if anyone has been banned from just using homebrew but you never know...
