In an effort to increase
the awareness of games
that may otherwise
remain out of the
spotlight, Nintendo is
considering a feature
that would automatically
send game demos to your
Nintendo 3DS. The idea is
that you’d opt-in to this
service and without
further interaction you
would receive the
content.
Here’s how Satoru Iwata
explains it:
When Nintendo would
like to ask users to try a
specific new game, we
should deliver it to their
Nintendo 3DS, and
possibly Wii U, with their
prior consent and
recommend that they
just try it and, if they like
it, they can pay for it. In
this way, we need to
introduce users to
unknown products.
…and then explaining
why this would exist:
Consumers are likely to
be convinced to pay
about 5,000 yen for a
well-established
franchise product, but
not all the people are
willing to pay a certain
amount of money for an
innovative but unknown
product. Now is the time
to prepare for these
situations.
That sounds good to me.
Granted, I’d be happy
with demos in general.
The automatic feature
just makes it that little
bit extra convenient
though.

What the balls is this mess of a title and this mess of an article? Regardless, who cares? People will get bored and check out demos anyways. If the game doesn't look fun, maybe the developer should make the effort to at least grant the illusion that it's fun until people test the demo and form an opinion.

Plus, if the demo blows, or is buggy as hell, I figure that the final product could sell worse.

Sounds like an excuse for forced firmware updates (AP) to me.

I also have some suspicions that they'd sneak in auto updates in that agreement too. "I download this to your 3DS? I download this to your 3DS."

And based on that page, it seems the forum Tempbot doesn't have much use for the USN anyway except to prevent people from editing a post they made. Seems kinda pointless.

If you read what Minox said in ask.gbatemp, Tempbot is a way for people to get news onto the front page.
Obviously, this thread is going nowhere the way it is right now.

I honestly don't get why people like you post stupid discussion endings like this. This is an annoyance for some users and we would like something to be done about it. Why should we be quiet if nothing is solved? Will not saying something solve it? If it's not a problem for you then fine, but I hate checking the news here and seeing an article that looks like a 5 year old made it who was playing in Microsoft Word.
