Yet another busy week! A nice well rounded mix of game genres.

Read to know when a game could be dumped:
These dates are what retailers say is out unless stated otherwise, sometimes they make dates up for pre-ordering purposes. These dates could also be "shipping dates" which usually means that that's the date when games get shipped to stores so a game could either be in stores on that day or after. Some games may get delayed some others not listed may appear but at the moment of posting these are correct. Also just because a game is released in stores it doesn't mean that they'll appear on our internets but NA titles usually appear on our 'nets Wednesday night UK time. I love you like a something loves something.

Region North America Genre: Action RPG
Developer: Creatures Publisher: Nintendo

Thought the first game was boring personally but I'm sure there are many people out there wanting this.

The game takes place in the land of Almia, where the player starts out as a rookie Pokémon Ranger who has just graduated from Ranger School. Like in the previous game, the player can choose to be a male or female character, however unlike the original, this choice does not affect the selection of the player's partner Pokémon. This game will also have special missions that you can do like battling Darkrai, Riolu, Shaymin, and Manaphy. The game features around 270 Pokémon, including new Pokémon which were not featured in the original, from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The game utilizes the Nintendo WiFi Connection.

Same old then. Though unlike the original you can choose your Pokemon. I'd rather Nintendo stopped this spin offs and made a all new main Pokemon game that is a big leap compared to previous titles, rather than one that is just another game. I say that a lot.

Only got a DS? Like FPS? You might want this.

Building on the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War thrusts players into the ruthless and gritty chaos of WWII combat like never before and challenges them to band together to survive the most harrowing and climactic battles in both the European and Pacific theatres. The title re-defines WWII games by offering an uncensored experience with unique enemies, jaw-dropping fire power like the flamethrower, and combat variety, including Kamikaze fighters, ambush attacks, Banzai charges and cunning tactics, as well as explosive on-screen action through all new cooperative gameplay.

The last one was decent but obviously rushed. This one has had a lot more time in development and the engine has been improved a lot so expect it to be a lot better. This will also be the first DS FPS since Metroid Prime: Hunters to actually have online multiplayer modes too! Ok so if you have any home console you may give this one a miss but still, you can't deny the amount of effort there is here.

Region North America Genre: Action
Developer: LucasArts Singapore Publisher: LucasArts

Yet another Star Wars game for the DS, this one is based on the CGI cartoon series & boring film.

Follows the epic battles that forged the Empire and lead to the downfall of the Jedi Order. Jedi Alliance thrusts you into a new storyline branch from the Clone Wars universe and challenges you to use your stylus to wield your deadly lightsaber. Experience the combined power when two Jedi join forces to fight as one. Choose your favorite Jedi pair at the start of each mission and experience unique moves and combat skills. With an innovative stylus-based input, controlling the Jedi's movement and Lightsaber combat has never felt more immersive.

Not expecting much to be honest, I guess those who are ghey for teh 3D & Star Wars will gush for it but me...meh?

Hey Popcap, tardy to the party or what? Now most big time companies would have easily ported their games to the DS, just like they've done to the mobile & Palm devices but amazingly this is Popcaps first DS titles!

In Amazing Adventures: The Forgotten Ruins, you have discovered a mysterious Mayan glyph that holds the key to a long-lost Mayan temple. Your home museum has agreed to finance your expedition to find it to preserve the artifacts and history contained within.

Sadly instead of being awesome like Bookworm Adventures, this game appears to be one of those sliding tiles games where you move the tiles to form a picture. Kinda lame.

Its back! Temco Bowl was a fairly good series back in the 90's and then it vanished. Now a lot of games are coming back so Tecmo have decided that it was time for this series to come back to.

The classic, over-the-top, all-American football game enables players of all levels to engage in a fun filled, fast paced, arcade style of football. Choose from 32 different teams across the country, then tactically use over-the-top plays to take over a game! Play against friends across the country or across the room in wireless local and online multiplayer matches.

* Super Abilities: Tactically use over-the-top plays to take over a game
* Wi-Fi and Wireless Multiplayer: Play against friends across the country or across the room.
* Stylus Control: Feel the action by using the stylus to control your player
* Variety of Teams: Choose from 32 different teams
* Cut-Scenes: All-new cut-scenes showing off the dramatic presentation of various plays
* Customizable Playbook: Prepare for gridiron greatness by customizing your playbook
* Music and Sound Effects: Turn up the heat on your opponent as you play the game to rock ‘n’ roll remixes of the most memorable tunes in football gaming history

Sounds like a load of fun, even for me who finds American Football to be kinda like Rugby but with shit loads of padding. Also I did enjoy the NES games.

Originally a Bullfrog game and then EA bought Bullfrog (as they do) and then released on the DS in Japan earlier this year. For some reason EA are letting someone else publish this outside of Japan. Yeah this game is always on this thread, maybe it'll be out this week.

Populous pioneered the God simulation genre. Featuring touch-screen controls that utilize the dual-screens, players manipulate 5 elementally-imbued gods, each with their own unique miracles, within an extensive single-player campaign. Within the multiplayer wireless mode, up to 4 players can unleash earthquakes, tidal waves and raging volcanoes onto rival players' lands.

The Japanese version was hacked with some English and I had a quick go and fount it to be a decent port.

Holy shit a DS racer that might be better than ok!

TrackMania, the series of racing games focusing on fun and frantic racing, now makes its debut on the Nintendo DS. Far from hardcore driving simulations, TrackMania is based on the fun and the spectacular aspect of racing. With TrackMania DS, you drive at mind-blowing speeds on incredible tracks made of jumps, loops, turbo boost pads and many other crazy design elements. Just like the renowned PC version, TrackMania DS offers a track editor that lets you create your own unique and exciting tracks from hundreds of different design blocks, giving the game near-infinite replay value.

* Three single player modes - Race, Platform and Puzzle provide a variety of challenges for even the most experienced racer
* Single cartridge multiplayer - Players can compete with up to four friends using one cartridge for a more personal and competitive race
* An incredible 3D track editor - A huge collection of track sections, including loops, jumps and twists, is available as players create their own tracks for the most insane races
* Three TrackMania environments – Desert, Rally and Stadium environments offer unique styles of gameplay, each with their own vehicle type to ensure the best racing experience

Previews have been really positive, and I reckon those yearning for a fun DS racer will be content with this title. Also its damn perdy for a DS title. No word about online sadly.

We've seen NES, GBA, SNES, PSX, PC & N64 ports but PS2? Nope! Well now we have, developed by HAND and overseen by Suda 51 (who did the original as well as No More Heroes, Contact & Killer 7) .

You play as Mondo Sumio, who comes to the resort island of Lospas at the request of the owner of the Flower, Sun, and Rain, a hotel on the island. The owner tells you that the island, which is stuck in a time loop and is being targeted by terrorists. With aid of Catharine, a computer you carry with you in your briefcase, your job is to stop the explosive device that threatens to destroy the island. Flower, Sun, and Rain, is a full adventure game with 3D exploration indoors and out. Using the hotel as your base of operations, you head out onto the island to question the residents. On top of the adventure gameplay from the PS2 original, the DS version adds 50 new puzzles, as well as stylus controls for when you jack into Catherine (ooh er Mrs!).

Like all Suda 51 games expect a great game but one with flaws & you know its sort of (that's sort of and not IS) like Professor Layton in a way...perhaps. This will come out in America next March.

Huh, not heard of this one before.

Shaun White Snowboarding for the Nintendo DS allows players to enjoy the thrilling sport of snowboarding anytime, anywhere. Built from the ground up, players can ride and compete on mountains around the world. They can also express their creativity through rides and customization and challenge their friends through wireless multiplayer.

Being Ubisoft though, don't expect it to play well but maybe I'm wrong.

Guitar Hero: On Tour Decades

Region: Europe Genre: Rhythm
Developer: Vicarious Visions Publisher: Activision Blizzard

For some insane reason, people enjoyed the first one. It was ok, but shit this is not something that suits the DS. Get a home console version...seriously. Sorry but you need a guitar to get the real experience.

* Rock out anytime, anywhere – Fans can take the Guitar Hero experience wherever they go with Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades. The Guitar Hero Guitar Grip™ is an ergonomic extension that mimics a guitar fret board and fits seamlessly in people’s hands to deliver the same core gameplay that defines Guitar Hero.
* Host epic jam sessions – Unprecedented song streaming features allow players of Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades and the smash hit Guitar Hero: On Tour to share songs and rock out together in multiplayer modes playing tracks from either version of the game.
* Travel back through time – Shred to classic songs from the ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s and today. Rock out in brand new venues set through the course of rock history, inspired by the most important trends from the last 40 years.
* Choose your path – Play through any one of three different career paths, each with their own story: Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, and Guitar Duel.
* Mastering the tracks – Rock out to one of the biggest selections of music ever assembled for the DS featuring all master tracks from the defining artists of their era including Fall Out Boy, Linkin Park, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bon Jovi, REM, Queen and many more.
* Match your threads to your shreds – Customize outfits from throughout the decades of rock, defining the best and most outrageous clothing trends in rock history.
* Jam with friends – On a local wireless network, friends can join together to play in co-op mode, or challenge one another in a Guitar Duel using new battle items unique to the DS platform.
* Become a rock legend – Players can blow into the microphone to extinguish a pyrotechnics effects gone wrong, or use the touch screen to autograph a fan’s shirt in the middle of their set.

This is yet again aimed at the teenage market and when I say teenage, I mean 13-17 and even then its mostly just safe stuff. Some songs are awesome others are awful (I really hate Linkin Park so much that its hurts me when I hear their songs) but is it really worth the price of a full price DS game? Not really.

Another game already? I guess the DVD is out then.

So this time its a 3D game, that is all I know. The last game wasn't too bad but then it wasn't exactly good either, just one of those you play for a bit hoping that it gets better and then realise that it doesn't and then you give up. Expect the same for this one.

Last King of Africa
Caspar Scare School
All Star Cheer Squad
Bob the Builder: Festival of Fun

Think: Train Your Brain

A lot huh? Most of these seem to want to push the DS capabilities in some way, which is pleasing at this time of year when we mostly get a lot of cheap cut & paste games.

What about Disgaea?

Great post as usual, something I look forward to every week.

Trackmania looks good, EDGE gave it an 8 which is about as good as any DS game gets from them.
