.cc is a cheat code file? I thought it was a cheat cache file.

Could you please explain it or show the source of your information? I don't know what it means myself.

Maybe I'm just old school, but a "cheat code" to my knowledge is a one time cheat that does one thing (i.e. The Konami Code.) Whereas a cheat cache is a collection of cheat codes via a gui with descriptions and check boxes that in turn creates a .cc file for all of the cheats selected for one game. That's my explanation.

As for a source, I don't happen to have any handy; but I'll do some searching so I can possibly contribute to your Dictionary.

Apologies, I didn't really think of that

In retrospect, I believe that the .cc file extension should encompass some sort of plurality; "cheat code file" just doesn't seem to fit the bill. Perhaps "cheats code" or "cheat codes" would be better than "cheat code." Still, I think "cheat cache" sounds best.

P.S. Does anyone know where to find out what an IRQ Hook Homebrew Reset is? I know I asked earlier, but Google is being pissy

There's two ways for AKAIO to interrupt a piece of homebrew in order to reset, and that option just lets you choose between them in case you find a piece of homebrew that works with one and not the other.

Ahk. Thanks.

Regarding the clones.

There are a lot of Ak2/Ak2i hardware clones out there... pretty sure about 1/2 of the clones listed are Acekard firmware/hardware clones. There are also R4 clones with legitimate Ak2i stickers on them. I could go on for about 2 pages, but for my own sake I won't. I'll just list the AKAIO Forum clone topic link.

The "scene" normally refers to the homebrew side of things.

At least 3 people collaborated on the definition we have now based on a source. Just so the research adds up, would you consider adding a source? I always thought homebrew was more indie, hence the term homebrew.

Thanks Everyone, I've updated it to contain everyones information. If my .cc information is lacking, please post with information. Sprogurt, not that I don't believe you, but I didn't add your information due to a lack of a source. If you could provide a source of your information, I would gladly appreciate it and add it to the dictionary. As for the AKAIO Forum clones, it only states hardware difference and doesn't contain names of clones. I only wish to show names of clones as explaining them is a bit off topic. Thanks however, that information was useful for my understanding.

Is there some reason that EZ-Flash Vi isn't listed as a card with current support?

When did this card stop being supported?

I've added the fact that the EZFlash is supported, I only know things relating to the R4 and clones so I don't have much knowledge on the rest of the Flashcarts. As for the R4i Gold, I don't wish to add the fact that it is supported as it will lead to people wishing to purchase it. It runs a ported version of R4 Wood so it won't be updated till WoodR4 Updates are released and ported by their team.

.narc: Nitro Archive. Format of the files containing text and other important data inside DS games. Nitro refers to the DS's code name.

I could go through all of these, but I'm not particularly feeling up to it. .narc seems the most important for someone to know when it comes to formats within a DS game.

nds editor: views files in a nds rom. views icon, name, etc, reinsert and extract files.
nitro explorer 2b: views files in a nds rom. can extract and reinsert files.

How about adding the meaning of the word resolution, for the really noobish noobs?
tongue.gif

Resolution: the amount of pixels of a screen. Given as the number of pixels in width x the number of pixels in height. All nds models have two screens, both with a resolution of 256x192 pixels.
