Nintendo 3DS firmware update 11.10.0-43 released

Nintendo-3DS-AquaOpen.png

Are you ready to give some extra unexpected stability to your console? That's right, Nintendo has just released a new system update for all 3DS models & regions! Firmware 11.10.0-43's changelog is exactly what you'd expect: "Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience". This means that, once again, the update only contains "under the hood" changes and no new features have been added. When it comes to hacking and homebrew, no vulnerabilities or CFW-breaking changes seems to have been made: as such, updating should be considered safe, but it's still recommended to wait until further confirmation before doing so.

This news thread will be kept up to date with any further info that may be useful to the end user.

UPDATE: CFW users can update safely. *hax payloads for older firmware versions are reported to be working on 11.10.0 for all regions except EUR. While they haven't been officially updated yet, an unofficial payload for EUR N3DS consoles can be found here (made by deadphoenix).

Rather out of the blue, how unexpected of them to drop by with this update.
Stay alert stay sober, for you don't know when the next update may pop up, my fellow 3DS modders.

Most likely for something happening around e3..like a game or something
In due time to Persona Q2 public western release, Nintendo came up with this update perhaps. But then again why would Nintendo bother with such a niche, insignificant release as persona q2.

ntrboot relies on unpatchable vulnerabilities, so there's no worries there.

It's not just unpatched but this late in the life of the system it will probably never be patched as it would take a rather serious hardware revision changing the SoC mask and producing new chips which makes no sense this late in the consoles life considering the costs involved in doing that serious of a hardware revision.

Not exactly. In theory it could be patched by updating/patching the MCU firmware to inject extra verification code into the boot process (think DMA injection). Of course that would not only be tricky to do but messing with the MCU firmware has a high risk of causing an unfixable brick even for legitimate systems.

Something whatever

(let's say collectors who own demo kiosk units, or developers if dev units can connect to the internet)
Development consoles use different servers. I don’t know much about 3ds kiosks, but I know on Switch the demos are stored on retail servers, I wouldn’t be surprised if 3ds was similar

It could be in a similar fashion or it could not. but why does that even bother you. asking purely out of curiosity.

can i update my 3ds?
If you are already running CFW, go ahead. Everything works great using Luma 9.1.
If not, it's better to either install CFW first and update later or wait. *hax payloads don't support 11.10.0-43 yet, so even if this firmware seems to be literally nothing™, the usual entrypoints won't work until the payloads get updated (unless you're using a hardmod/ntrboot).

Just looked it up, 3ds kiosks seem to literally just be retail systems, so yea, it’s probably either what I thought, Nintendo manually installs the demos on the systems, or they use carts (I know older ones used carts, dunno about new ones). why does what bother me?

In our universe, there is an object so stable not even light can unstabilize it.

Nothing can escape it's gravitational stabling. If you cross the stable-horizon, your life will never be the same again. Everything will fall in order.

We call it a supermassive black DS. At 5 billion times the mass of an original NES cartridge, this thing, is a monster.
