Nintendo 3DS firmware update 11.10.0-43 released

Nintendo-3DS-AquaOpen.png

Are you ready to give some extra unexpected stability to your console? That's right, Nintendo has just released a new system update for all 3DS models & regions! Firmware 11.10.0-43's changelog is exactly what you'd expect: "Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience". This means that, once again, the update only contains "under the hood" changes and no new features have been added. When it comes to hacking and homebrew, no vulnerabilities or CFW-breaking changes seems to have been made: as such, updating should be considered safe, but it's still recommended to wait until further confirmation before doing so.

This news thread will be kept up to date with any further info that may be useful to the end user.

UPDATE: CFW users can update safely. *hax payloads for older firmware versions are reported to be working on 11.10.0 for all regions except EUR. While they haven't been officially updated yet, an unofficial payload for EUR N3DS consoles can be found here (made by deadphoenix).

well if they use the cert (which the 3ds has one iirc) they could ban that and it'll make your console as useless (online) as a banned switch they were just stupid and just banned FCS-B which is replaceable a cert isn't just like on a switch once burnt game over for online services, but then again they don't care too much as online services for the 3ds ends in a year or 2

I see Nintendo's 3DS stability fixes like making a table more stable by shortening each leg a little each time... eventually the table will have no legs but the table top will sit on the ground with optimal stability.

In my opinion, the 3DS died when the Switch came out. I haven't used my 3DS since.
Good for you.
The millions of us retro collectors appreciate your kind for ditching your 'old' systems when the next shiny new thing comes along, making it cheaper for us to collect for.
I still don't own a Switch, only got around to getting a WiiU just over a year before the Switch released, didn't get a PS3 until the PS4 was out, picked up my first PS Vita a little over a year ago... and, tbh, now is the best time to be owning all of those systems.

Yep, this was sure, because I decided to hack my new 3ds. I could have warned you guys, this is my luck.

Literally yesterday I moved to bigger sd card to have space for my cart dumps, prepared files and Nintendo releases new firmware. FML. I will do it either way.

Sounds like a JoJO reference

Normally, I'd just say no and call it a day.

But I refuse. One of my absolute favorite things to do is tell someone who thinks they saw a JoJo reference "no."

Luma seems to work fine on my O3DS, but it broke my freakyhax on my N3DSXL (I don't have any CFW there).

Anyone knows how to fix it? Maybe @smealum has to update the files for the Homebrew Launcher? Or I have to change something's name?

It's more likely the ROP chain broke or something (so yes, smealum would need to update it.) Why have you not installed CFW on that console?

for once i think nintendo screwed up cause i think they broke the ticket verification on eshop (I checked Pokemon X and it said "to redownload screen) despite me never having it on my list on my N3ds (to my knowlege)

Why does this matter? Nintendo can release as many firmware revisions as they want, it won't affect boot9strap.

There is no war. Jesus.. They have to try and protect it because of investors, developes etc. Now it's a dying system so they can focus all on the Switch
Pretty much this. The cat and mouse game came to an end with sighax, something they potentially could've fixed on a hardware revision like the N2DS XL, especially because the vulnerability itself was revealed to the public many months before its release. Even if they had any number of units already assembled when it was first disclosed, they could've still patched it with later production runs, but nope... they didn't even bother.

Nintendo may have to put on a pretty face for investors and the rest of the bunch, yet something like this goes to show how little they care about the 3DS nowadays. The "war" is long over.

ntrboot relies on unpatchable vulnerabilities, so there's no worries there.

It's not just unpatched but this late in the life of the system it will probably never be patched as it would take a rather serious hardware revision changing the SoC mask and producing new chips which makes no sense this late in the consoles life considering the costs involved in doing that serious of a hardware revision.

But... why?
It must do something. So what does it do?

they didnt change anything except for firmware number. Its all a ploy to make it look they still care about the 3ds. My 3DS was no more stable than it was before.

Might be genuinely a security patch, nodding unrelated. Anything important enough to that made then allocate resources to patch it. They are still maintaining support on the console, and don't want to be liable for any user compromise.

Assuming magnethax still works?

It's a hardware (/ bios I guess) access to the console, no software update will patch it.

Hhhhuh. What could this mean? Is there really any more life left in the 3DS? I'm doubtful, but I can't really think of any other reason why Nintendo would update it at this point. Maybe just to keep Spotpass stuff playable for archival purposes?

I am counting on that. Good that I actually bought two days ago mario calculator to have DSiWare software to hack it. I don't want to risk my legit 4 swords adventures.

Because I have bought a lot of things on that New 3DS and I don't want to mix my thing with "other things".

I only want homebrew on that console for extract saves from digital games, the coin setter and maybe region free (I usually use the other 3DS for that, but anyways).

Knowing how is Smea, he will update the ROP chain, I really hope that Nintendo gets tired of doing these updates soon.
